Update for Renault Austral: what’s new?
Technical improvements Renault Austral
The Renault Austral benefits from new shock absorbers with improved damping capabilities, resulting in even better handling characteristics. In addition to the 19- and 20-inch diamond-cut rims, the standard tire size has also been increased on all versions. At the same time, the Extended Grip system is now compatible with 18- and 20-inch tires. New all-season 18-inch and 19-inch tires are also now available.
Acoustic insulation has been improved with new door rubbers, a new design for the base of the side mirror to reduce wind noise and – on the Esprit Alpine version – laminated glass for the front doors. Under the hood, Renault applies more effective sound insulation and new powertrain mounts for added silence.
Exterior design Renault Austral
Several changes have been made to the exterior design of the Renault Austral. For example, the hood, bumper and grille are new. The front and rear lights are also new. Adaptive LED Vision headlights are standard. The optional Matrix LED Vision headlights improve the driver’s visual comfort without blinding other road users.
Especially at the rear, the upper and central parts of the tailgate get new lines. The new Renault Austral is still available in Gloss Schist Grey, Starry Black, Pearl White and Flame Red. Completely new are the two body colors Ultramarine Blue and Satin Pearl White.

Interior Renault Austral
Like its bigger brother Renault Espace, the new Renault Austral also benefits from new driver recognition. A camera in the left A-pillar recognizes the driver and, if applicable, activates the user profile. The user profile includes the following personalized settings: favorite radio and media stations, driver’s seat and mirror settings (electric controls) and Google apps via the OpenR Link system.

New chairs
The new front seats offer improved lateral and shoulder support. The seats also feature new upholstery, including the 98% recycled Egée fabric available on the Techno trim.
Luggage space varies depending on the powertrain: from 555 liters to 1,761 liters with the Mild Hybrid 160 hp powertrain (depending on the configuration of the bench seat) and from 527 to 1,736 liters with the E-Tech full hybrid 200 hp powertrain. In addition, a 12V socket is available in the luggage compartment.
OpenR infotainment system
In the new Renault Austral, the brand also confirms the familiar OpenR infotainment system, consisting of a 12-inch digital instrument panel and a 9- or 12.3-inch multimedia display, depending on the version. A 9.3-inch head-up display is optional.
Renault Austral Techno
The equipment of the new Renault Austral Techno is particularly comprehensive. The model comes standard with OpenR Link infotainment, a height-adjustable passenger seat, High Gloss Black inserts on the door panels and a center console with a refined textile finish (TEP). Also included are chrome roof racks, satin chrome interior inserts on the door panels and a “safety package” (blind spot warning, emergency reverse stop, rear cross traffic alert).
Renault Austral Esprit Alpine
The Renault Austral Esprit Alpine features black roof racks, black window surrounds and new 20-inch Altitude wheels with a snowflake-inspired design. The interior has a sporty look. Carbon fiber-inspired Twill upholstery is accompanied by stitching on the seats and piping on the seat belts in Alpine blue. The seats also have an embroidered “A” on the backrest as well as power seat adjustment and a heating function. Alcantara trim can be found on the top of the seats, on the underside of the steering wheel, on the dashboard and on the door panels. Sills with the Alpine logo and alloy sport pedals complete the Esprit Alpine.

Engines Renault Austral
Mild Hybrid 160: this powertrain consists of a four-cylinder 1.3-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with direct fuel injection, complemented by a starter alternator and a 12V lithium-ion battery coupled to a CVT-type automatic transmission. This powertrain has a combined fuel consumption of 6.2 l/100 km with CO2 emissions of 140 g/km, pending homologation.
Full hybrid E-Tech 200: The Full hybrid E-Tech 200 horsepower powertrain is mated to a clutchless multi-mode automatic transmission. Thanks to new software, the gearbox is more responsive, making shifts smoother and eliminating power dips during kickdown or acceleration. Thanks to quick shifts and smart control, the automatic transmission delivers impressive performance: 0-100 km/h in 8.8 seconds and from 80-120 km/h in 6 seconds.
The full hybrid E-Tech 200 powertrain consists of:
- A 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine with 96 kW (130 hp) and 205 Nm of torque
- A main electric motor with an output of 50 kW (70 hp) and 205 Nm of torque powered by a 2 kWh/400V lithium-ion battery
- An HSG starter generator 18 kW (25 hp) and 50 Nm of torque, which starts the fuel engine and manages the gearbox
