Triumph dusts off classic brand logo
Triumph Motorcycles has a new range of its Modern Classics for 2025. These are the Icon Editions, featuring a one-time comeback of a Triumph logo that dates back to 1907. 100 years ago, that logo last appeared on a Triumph’s tank.
Triumph Icon Editions
Icon Editions come from seven of Triumph’s Modern Classics. So you have to think the Triumph Bonneville, Triumph Bobber, the Scrambler and the Triumph Speedmaster. The limited Icon Editions stand out with a classic color scheme combining Sapphire Black and Aluminum Silver. Each has hand-painted striping and exclusive graphics in which the logo of yesteryear stands out.
History of Triumph logo
At the very beginning, in 1902, Triumph’s logo was a shield with the company’s name, Triumph Cycle Co. Ltd and the name of the city where production was taking place at the time, Coventry. This shield gave way in 1907 to a written logo, the Triumph wordmark. This was used for only seven years. Today, nevertheless, this version of the Triumph logo appears in many custom designs. Some fans even have it tattooed on their bodies.
Triumph Motors
With the addition of the word “Motors” in 1915, the design of the logo took another step forward. In 1920, Triumph reverted to the coat of arms, this time in color. In 1932, they opted very briefly for an oval-shaped logo incorporating a globe, but in 1934 Triumph returned to the wordmark again. This time with a new font and only capital letters. That logo was updated in 1936 with a more modern font and was used for the following 50 years. In 1990, a blue version was introduced. In 2013 the logo as we know it today appeared, with a modern black version of the wordmark and the accompanying triangle with the letter T.
Attention to detail
The Icon Editions are built with extreme precision and attention to detail. Each Icon Edition has its own color scheme that is a combination of Sapphire Black and Aluminum Silver, with side panels that are beautifully finished and match the fuel tank perfectly. Beautifully accented by the hand-painted black or gold lines that separate the color areas. The addition of the iconic logo and the words “Icon Edition” on the tank and on the side panels adds further appeal to each model.
