Toyota increases warranty period on drive battery in electric models
New guarantee scheme
From now on, the Toyota Urban Cruiser, the Toyota C-HR+, the bZ4X, the bZ4X Touring and the Hilux are covered by up to a 10-year powertrain battery warranty with a maximum mileage of up to 1 million kilometers. The enhanced warranty scheme applies as long as periodic maintenance is performed by an official Toyota dealer or authorized repairer of the brand and applies to the Toyota Urban Cruiser, Toyota C-HR+, Toyota bZ4X and the bZ4X Touring, among others. The new warranty scheme also applies to the recently introduced battery-electric Hilux.
Conditions for additional battery warranty
A battery-electric Toyota is eligible for additional powertrain battery warranty once the standard factory battery warranty of 5 years or 100,000 kilometers has been exceeded (whichever comes first). This includes a maximum age of 10 years measured from the date of first registration and mileage not exceeding 1 million kilometers. This applies to the battery-electric Toyota C-HR+, Urban Cruiser, bZ4X, bZ4X Touring and the Hilux. For the Proace models, this is at a maximum of 300,000 kilometers.
For degradation, Toyota offers standard factory warranty of 8 years to 160,000 kilometers. This is also extendable to a maximum of 10 years and 1,000,000 kilometers, including protection against degradation up to a limit of 70 percent of net battery capacity.

Free battery check
After each service, the battery warranty is automatically extended until the next prescribed service interval. During this service, the Toyota dealer performs a battery check, free of charge, so that the condition of the battery remains structurally monitored. This additional warranty covers both technical defects and battery degradation.
Up to ten years general warranty
In addition to the extended battery coverage, Toyota also offers up to 10 years general warranty on the car itself, up to a maximum of 200,000 kilometers. This warranty – like the battery warranty – is transferable and applies regardless of the number of previous owners, as long as maintenance is performed within the Toyota network.
How does 10-year (traction) battery warranty work?
For defects, the factory warranty on the battery is standard 5 years (up to 100,000 kilometers). For degradation – up to 70% of the original net battery capacity – a factory warranty of 8 years (up to 160,000 km) applies.
After this, you will receive up to 10 years warranty if you have the maintenance performed at the Toyota dealer. The warranty applies not only to defects, but also to degradation. Degradation is the loss of battery capacity over time. We offer up to a 10-year battery warranty (up to 300,000 km for Proace, or 1,000,000 km for passenger cars and Hilux) and up to 70% of the original net battery capacity. The dealer will do a free Battery Care Check during maintenance.
Your car qualifies for a 10-year additional warranty if:
– The 5-year manufacturer’s warranty on the battery has expired (depending on the car’s first registration date);
– The regular warranty still has a validity of less than the prescribed service interval;
– The Toyota is less than 10 years old, measured from the date of first registration; and
– There are less than 300,000 (Proace) or 1,000,0000 (passenger cars and Hilux) kilometers on the odometer.
– The Toyota has been serviced from the time of commissioning at one of the official Toyota dealers or Toyota authorized repairers.
