Porsche Cayenne GTS gets technology from Turbo GT

Thanks to the GTS chassis tuned for dynamics, the Porsche Cayenne GTS has a 10-millimeter lower ride height. The SUV now comes standard with adaptive air suspension, including Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus). All chassis components and control systems, such as Porsche Traction Management (PTM) and the optional Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), are expressly designed to optimize the car’s road performance.

The two-valve damper technology of the GTS offers impressive responsiveness, while the air suspension with dual-chamber technology gives the car dynamic suspension dynamics while ensuring ride comfort. The knuckle bearings on the front axle of the Cayenne GTS models come from the Cayenne Turbo GT, a version Porsche does not offer in Europe. They increase the wheels’ negative camber by 0.58 degrees, bringing greater agility and exceptional driving dynamics.

4.0-liter V8 bi-turbo engine

Besides the finely tuned chassis, the imposing V8 is another important feature of the new Cayenne GTS. The 4.0-liter V8 bi-turbo engine has undergone extensive technical modifications. This has led to efficiency gains and a substantial increase in performance. The engine now produces 368 kW (500 hp), an increase of 30 kW (40 hp) over the previous GTS. Maximum torque is 660 Nm, an increase of 40 Nm. The revised eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission noticeably improves driving performance through shorter response and shift times in Sport and Sport Plus modes.

Impressive performance

The engine and transmission provide impressive performance in the four-door sports car. The new Cayenne GTS accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds; its top speed is 275 km/h. Like the high-performance Turbo GT, the manifold of the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel-drive system has a separate cooling system to control its temperature. It ensures that the four-wheel drive system continues to function efficiently even under heavy load or during prolonged (track) use.

This is what you recognize a Porsche Cayenne GTS by

All Porsche GTS models are recognizable by their unique, sporty touches. In the Cayenne GTS, these include black “GTS” lettering on the sides and rear of the SUV, a different nose with larger cooling air intakes, dark tinted headlights and taillights and red brake calipers. Sticking to the classic design DNA ensures that the Cayenne GTS retains the instantly recognizable Porsche appearance. 

Parts such as the door sills, inserts in the front wings, side window surrounds and wheel arch extensions – all part of the standard Sport Design package – are now finished in high-gloss black. On earlier GTS models, some of these body parts were painted in body color. In contrast, the exhaust pipes of the sports exhaust system that were previously black are now finished in a dark bronze color. Cayenne GTS models feature 21-inch RS Spyder Design wheels in anthracite gray.

The Porsche Cayenne GTS comes standard with a heated GT sports steering wheel. The headliner, armrests and door panels, as well as the center panels of the eight-way adjustable sports seats are upholstered in high-quality Race-Tex. The side cheeks are raised for more lateral support in fast cornering. For the GTS only, Porsche offers two alternative interior packages in Carmine Red or Slate Grey Neo.

Mood lighting

The new GTS models get all the features recently implemented on the Cayenne, including the new Porsche Driver Experience with a curved digital instrument cluster and an optional passenger display. In addition to the Sport Design package, dark-tinted HD matrix LED headlights and air suspension, the GTS also features a Bose® Surround Sound system and ambient interior lighting. The Cayenne GTS Coupe comes standard with a fixed panoramic glass roof and an adaptive retractable rear spoiler.

By customer request, Porsche further enhances the Coupe’s dynamic feel with a sport exhaust system with centrally mounted exhaust pipes in dark bronze. This is available as part of the three different lightweight sports packages. That includes a lightweight roof, a carbon fiber rear diffuser and reduced insulation. Depending on the equipment, the lightweight packages can reduce the weight of the GTS by up to 25 kilograms.

Starting price Porsche Cayenne GTS

The new Porsche Cayenne GTS can be ordered immediately and will be at the eight Dutch Porsche Centers starting this summer. The Porsche Cayenne GTS has a recommended retail price of 225,300 euros, while the Porsche Cayenne GTS Coupe is available from 229,700 euros.
