Opel Rocks-e, from 8,499 euros

Back in November 2022, an article appeared on this website about absurd prices for the Opel Rocks-e. The 45 km/h fast electric “citycar” (moped) costs only 8,499 euros new and the top version (Tekno or Klub) gets you home for as little as 9,299 euros. Those who buy now will get it in June 2023. Official Opel dealers hold to these prices, but it is mostly other companies that charge headline prices.

Thousands of euros difference

A tour of the well-known occasion portals quickly reveals that companies are firmly raising prices. We come across the following prices: 9,995 euros, 11,495 euros and even 12,995 euros. That’s a few hundred to a few thousand euros more, respectively, compared to Opel’s recommended retail price. Of course, companies are free to charge whatever they want, but the question is whether consumers will actually pay it.

Opel Rocks-e ‘JVK Special Edition’

The most expensive Opel Rocks-e in the Netherlands is at Janssen van Kouwen Automotive in Amsterdam. They even have a Rocks-e “JVK Special Edition” on display. Price tag? 14,995 euros. That’s almost 6,000 euros more than a normal Tekno variant. What you get for those extra euros? A Rocks-e painted in matte black with alloy wheels and… No, that was it. Just a different color and alloy wheels. Admittedly, it looks cool.

Various items Opel Rocks-e

On AutoRAI.co.uk, the Rocks-e has already passed by several times. We drove it around the country in endurance testing, went into detail about the cost and wrote a report on daily life with a Rocks-e. So you get a good idea of this electric “citycar” from Opel, which is technically similar to the Citroën Ami. Fiat will eventually come out with the Topolino. In fact, that’s a Rocks-e and Ami with Fiat logos. For example, several brands within Stellantis use the model.
