This is the best-selling plug-in hybrid of 2024
Kuga remains frontrunner
With more than 4,100 units sold in the Netherlands, the Ford Kuga is the best-selling plug-in hybrid of 2024. Never before have so many examples of Ford’s plug-in SUV been sold. Although the segment in which the Kuga operates is often dominated by business drivers, the Kuga also manages to win over private individuals: one in three models sold went to a private individual.

Ford Kuga
The powertrain of the Kuga PHEV consists of a 2.5-liter gasoline engine as well as an electric motor, together good for a combined system output of 165 kW (225 hp). The towing weight of 2,100 kg makes the Kuga one of the strongest in its class. The Ford Kuga Plug-In Hybrid has an all-electric range of up to 69 kilometers (WLTP). The new Kuga is available from 39,490 euros.

Road tax
Something important will change for plug-in hybrids in 2025: the road tax rebate will be reduced. Until the end of 2024, PHEV drivers received a 50% discount on road tax, as long as emissions were below 50 grams of CO2 per kilometer. Since Jan. 1, this percentage has dropped to 25%, and from 2030 the discount will disappear altogether.
