This is how many copies of the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed will be produced
Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed
Michael Schiebe, Chairman of the Management Board of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, says: “With the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed, you experience performance and fun behind the wheel in the most direct way. Thanks to the car’s radically open design without a roof or windshield, nothing separates the driver and passenger from the elements, allowing them to fully experience the car, the road and the landscape with all their senses. The striking design reinterprets elements of legendary racing cars and features a fascinating and timeless silhouette. The PureSpeed brings together AMG’s traditional strengths: highly emotional and highly powerful cars that inspire – at first sight and behind the wheel.”
Wink to Mercedes-AMG One hypercar
With its wide air intake, ‘AMG’ lettering and dark, chrome Mercedes star on the softnose, the front end resembles that of the Mercedes-AMG One. The sports car also features an aerodynamically optimized hood. Aerodynamic, sharply drawn elements of visible carbon in the lower part of the body contrast sharply with the sensual, rounded shapes of the upper part. The trunk lid and rear diffuser are also aerodynamically optimized. The lack of a roof was taken into account in the design of both elements.
21-inch forged aluminum rims
The design of the 21-inch forged aluminum rims is characterized by carbon covers front and rear. The rear covers are fully closed for lower drag. The front covers are open to optimize front airflow and brake cooling. The sports car sits on 9.5 J x 21-inch rims with 275/35 R21 tires at the front and 11.0 J x 21-inch rims with 305/30 R21 tires at the rear.

Halo system instead of an A-pillar
Another highlight is the halo system that replaces the conventional A-pillar. This element was inspired by the highest class of motor racing and has been part of every Formula 1 car since 2018. It protects the driver’s head in the event of an accident. The safety system in the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed consists of a robust tubular steel brace. The roll over protection system also has two rigid roll bars hidden under the aerodynamic scoops. Interesting detail: the halo is indirectly illuminated at the bottom by narrow LED strips, taking ambient lighting to a new level.
Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed: including helmets
There are also two aerodynamically optimized helmets designed and manufactured specifically for the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed. They come in the color of the car and have an intercom system. The helmets enable the driver and passenger to talk to each other properly, even at high speeds. Smartphones can also be linked to the intercom system, allowing the driver and passenger to make calls and listen to music through the helmets’ speakers.
Honoring legendary Mercedes models
The two scoops behind the seats bear the AMG emblem and are reminiscent of those of legendary racing cars such as the 300 SLR, the car with which Stirling Moss and Denis Jenkinson drove to victory in the 1955 Mille Miglia (a 1,000-mile race) in Italy. Fittingly, the PureSpeed is finished in the exclusive Silberpfeil paint mystic silver mango.

Optional motorsport styling package
The optional motorsport styling package includes a paint with a color gradient from Le Mans red to graphite gray with an AMG black pattern. The latter pays homage to the color of the Mercedes that won the Targa Florio race in Sicily exactly one hundred years ago. The race car was painted red, a color used only by Italian manufacturers at the time. German racing cars, on the other hand, were traditionally white. The red paint was intended to prevent Italian motorsport tifosi from trying to interfere with the German race car. The plan worked: with Christian Werner behind the wheel, the Mercedes two-liter racing car with number 10 crossed the finish line first. To commemorate this victory a hundred years ago, the motorsport styling package features a “10” on the front mudguards.
Two-color color and equipment concept
Another interior highlight is the classic two-tone color and equipment concept in crystal white/black. The AMG Performance seats with special leather upholstery and special decorative seams offer optimum lateral support in addition to an exclusive look. The seat design with flowing lines is inspired by the air flowing around the car. The multicontour seats and seat ventilation/heating enhance comfort. The back of the seats features carbon elements. The flowing lines are also applied to the integrated leather pads on the rear of the seats, while the high-pile AMG floor mats reflect the color, design and decorative seams of the seats. The door entry strips are also covered in leather. The AMG Performance steering wheel is finished in two colors.
IWC Schaffhausen timepiece
Also striking in the interior is the custom-made analog clock designed by IWC Schaffhausen. It is placed prominently in the center of the dashboard in a teardrop-shaped case in gloss black on a base of vision carbon. The handsome chronometer has a PureSpeed-specific dial with AMG windshield pattern.

Burmester High-End 3D surround sound
The Burmester High-End 3D surround sound system with fifteen speakers and 1,170 watts of system power provides an authentic sound experience comparable to a summer outdoor festival. The ‘1 out of 250’ badge in the center console makes it clear that the sports car is part of the strictly limited Mythos series.
And if it rains?
To protect the parked car from bad weather, such as rain or wind, the PureSpeed comes standard with a protective cover. This is stretched over the interior including halo in the traditional manner and attached to the wheel arches. Each customer also receives a customized, PureSpeed-specific AMG-indoor car cover. With a breathable exterior made of tear-resistant synthetic fibers and an antistatic interior made of flannel, it protects the car in the garage from dust and scratches.
Aluminum space frame
The PureSpeed is based on Mercedes-AMG’s sports car architecture. The chassis consists of an aluminum space frame with a self-supporting structure. Materials used include aluminum, magnesium, fiber composites and steel. Carbon was used for the aero elements on the front and rear skirt, sill extensions and trim behind the seats.
Active aero elements
The car features a host of active aero elements, such as the retractable rear spoiler, which is seamlessly integrated into the trunk lid. It changes position depending on driving conditions. The steering software takes into account numerous parameters, including driving speed, lateral and longitudinal acceleration, and steering speed. At speeds above 80 km/h, the spoiler assumes five different angles, allowing it to optimize driving stability or reduce drag depending on its position.
The active aerodynamic element hidden in the bottom plate in front of the engine also contributes to safe and dynamic driving behavior. This carbon profile weighs about 2 kg and responds to AMG driving programs by automatically lowering the carbon profile by about 40 mm at speeds above 80 km/h. This creates the so-called Venturi effect, which sucks the car to the road surface and reduces the elevator on the front axle. The driver feels this effect directly in the steering, as it allows the PureSpeed to be steered even more precisely through bends and drives very trackably.

4.0-liter V8-AMG biturbo engine
Powering it is a 4.0-liter V8-AMG biturbo engine with a maximum output of 430 kW (585 hp) and maximum torque 800 Nm. The PureSpeed accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and has a top speed of 315 km/h. Then there is the tasty AMG V8 engine sound.
AMG Speedshift MCT 9G transmission
The AMG Speedshift MCT 9G transmission combines an emotional shifting experience with extremely short shift times. The torque converter has been replaced by a wet starting clutch. It reduces the weight of the car and, thanks to lower inertia, optimizes the response to throttle commands, especially during sprints and load changes.
Fully variable all-wheel drive AMG Performance 4Matic+
The PureSpeed is equipped with the AMG Performance 4Matic+ all-wheel drive system. The intelligent system combines the advantages of different drive concepts. The fully variable torque distribution between the front and rear axles ensures optimum traction at physical limits as well as high driving stability and safety under all conditions.
Active rear axle steering
The PureSpeed is equipped with active rear axle steering. Depending on the speed, the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction (below 100 km/h) or in the same direction (above 100 km/h) as the front wheels. As a result, the system offers both agile and stable handling. Other benefits include easier vehicle control at the limit and less steering effort due to the more direct steering ratio at the front.
