This factory produces a Dacia every 55 seconds
Over fifty years of manufacturing history
The factory in Mioveni opened its doors on August 20, 1968, covering an area of 355,000 square meters. It all began with the production of the Dacia 1100, a model based on the Renault 8. A series of models based on the Renault 12 soon followed, including the well-known Dacia 1300 and 1310, along with such variants as the 1310 Sport, 1320, 1325 and the Pick-Up. In total, nearly 2.3 million of these vehicles were produced between 1969 and 2006, including 319,000 commercial vehicles.
The 1990s saw the appearance of the Dacia Nova, SupeRNova and Solenza – the first models designed entirely in Romania. The acquisition by Renault Group in 1999 ushered in a new phase, with the big breakthrough being the introduction of the Logan in 2004. Since then, Dacia has grown into a brand of international significance thanks to the introduction of the Sandero, the Duster and most recently the Jogger and Bigster.
Manufacturing
Today, the plant is running at full capacity. 1,357 vehicles are built daily, or one car every 55 seconds. The workforce numbers 6,850 employees, 27% of whom are women within the production department. In senior management, the proportion of female employees is as high as 48%. This makes Dacia in Mioveni not only a large production center, but also an organization that pays attention to diversity in the workplace.

Export and international success
As many as 90% of the vehicles produced at Mioveni are destined for export. Thus, the plant plays a key role in Dacia’s international position within the Renault Group. Its models are now a regular sight on the roads of Europe and far beyond.
The Dacia Duster as the main hit
Of all the models, the Dacia Duster is the absolute leader in terms of production numbers. More than 2.6 million units have been built since its introduction in 2010. The model is now in its third generation. The latest Duster offers improvements in interior comfort, technology and design, without jettisoning the familiar formula.

Introducing the Bigster
The brand’s newest addition is the Dacia Bigster. This SUV plays in the C-segment and targets families looking for space, robustness and functionality. The Bigster is not even available everywhere yet, but already counts more than 13,000 orders in Europe. Production has now started at full speed in Mioveni.
