This brutal Dutch Paris-Dakar truck is now a camper for hire

Motorhome rental

We are writing more and more about RVs. Why? Simple, Dutch people are increasingly interested in these driving hotel rooms. Research shows that 40,000 motorhomes have been added to our country in recent years, and now young people and young families are finding their way to a motorhome in droves. People are not only buying RVs more often, but renting is also very popular.

Paris-Dakar

So many people, so many wishes. Not everyone is waiting for a beige Hymer. Those who want an adventurous vacation with a camper can rent the most brutal camper in the Netherlands on Camptoo – a kind of Airbnb for campers. We are talking about a 2001 MAN truck, which served for nine years as the service truck of the KTM rally team in the Paris-Dakar rally, among other events. The truck has since been converted and equipped with all the luxury conveniences that you also find in a traditional camper.

Sandstorms in Mauritania

Thus, a shower, toilet, 3-burner stove, 2 (!) refrigerators and a large bed ensure a pleasant vacation experience, whether you are on a neat ANWB campsite or at the foot of a glacier. The camper can handle all conditions. Indeed, in his previous life, he also effortlessly survived the harsh cold around the North Cape and sandstorms in Mauritania. Should you accidentally drive over a caravan at the campsite and flip over – don’t worry: the truck is equipped with a roll cage.

Self-Sufficient

The expedition DNA is still deeply rooted in the camper. Even if you have no electricity at the campsite or all your camping gas cans are empty, you can still just grab a hot shower and turn on the lights in the evening. This is because the camper is self-sufficient. There are solar panels on the roof and unused generated power is stored in batteries. In addition, there are two diesel tanks, which hold a total of 800 liters of fuel.

Four sleeping places

The camper has a total of six seats, two of which are belted in the truck’s cab and four in the living unit. There is a passageway between the cab of the truck and the living unit, so you don’t have to walk around the truck in the cold first when you want to get behind the wheel. The sitting area can easily be made into a second double bed. So in total there are four sleeping places.

The robust camper is for rent in the province of Groningen in the village of Vriescheloo, but there is a drawback to the truck: it is a… truck. In short: you need a truck license to drive it.
