Third-generation Audi Q5: focus is on plug-in hybrid
More practical and convenient
The new Audi Q5 is more convenient and practical than before, according to the manufacturer.
The three-seat rear seat is sliding and tilting to create additional luggage space.
With fully folded down rear seats, a cargo volume of up to 1,473 liters is available.
The luggage compartment cover can now be stored in a special compartment under the floor.
There is now a more spacious storage compartment under the front central armrest.
There are also several USB-C sockets at the front and rear, optionally with up to 100 W (fast) charging capacity.
Lots of displays in new Audi Q5
In the interior of the Audi Q5, we further detect the Audi virtual cockpit (11.9 inches) and Audi MMI Display with OLED technology (14.5 inches).
This “digital stage” can be expanded with a 10.9-inch display with privacy mode for the front passenger.
The latter can, for example, watch movies without distracting the driver.
A head-up display is also available.
Extra quiet
Things like a soundproof windshield and additional sound insulation should make the Audi Q5 especially quiet.
Audi uses high-quality, soft-touch sustainable materials.
For example, the luxury upholstery materials Kaskade and Dinamica are made from recycled polyester and/or residual textiles.
Android Automotive OS
The new E3 1.2 electronics platform is the hub of the digital interior.
This also includes a voice assistant, which, thanks to AI (Artificial Intelligence), is self-learning and thus can respond to occupants’ wishes ever more effectively through use.
The AI function is displayed via an avatar on the central display or the head-up display.
The infotainment system uses Android Automotive OS, which allows over-the-air updates.
External apps are available in the store, which is integrated into the MMI.
An optional Bang & Olufsen Premium Sound System (685 watts) with sixteen speakers and Vehicle Noise Compensation is available.
Projection Lighting
The Audi Q5 also makes use of smart lighting.
An innovation at the rear is the projection light in the rear spoiler that projects a graphic onto the rear window when braking, significantly increasing the area of brake lighting.
The 3D taillights can also communicate with other vehicles and the infrastructure (car-to-X).
If the car receives reports of accidents, for example, the taillights warn rear traffic with a recognizable signature.
The warning function for approaching too close is also included Of course, the advanced lighting technology enables individual, dynamic light designs both in front and behind.
Undercarriage Audi Q5 2025
As standard, the new Audi Q5 has a suspension with steel springs.
A sports suspension is optional.
Frequency Selective Damping and dynamic tuning of the front axle help to optimally absorb damping forces, especially on poor road surfaces.
On tight surfaces, this system allows for high damping forces.
This allows, for example, lane changes on the highway to be performed with maximum stability.
Optionally, air suspension with Adaptive Damper Control is available.
This further widens the spread between high comfort and optimum dynamics.
A further refined Progressive Steering steering is standard on every new Audi Q5.
(Streamlined) alloy wheels are available for the new Q5, ranging in size from 17 to 21 inches.
Driver assistance systems
The new Audi Q5 comes standard with parking assistance, cruise control with speed limiter, Lane Departure Warning, Efficiency Assistant and fatigue assistant.
With special assistance packages, the number of driving assistance systems can be further expanded.
These include Adaptive Brake Assist Plus and Active Front Assist.
In the latter, four functions come together: Front Emergency Brake Assist, Evasion Assist, Turn Assist and Front Cross Traffic Assist.
Cruise control that uses road sign recognition, Park Assist plus and Rear Turn Assist are also available.
Production and market introduction
Production of the new Audi Q5 will again take place in Mexico.
Dutch prices of the new Audi Q5 will follow at the end of 2024.
The new Q5 can be ordered in early 2025.
Delivery will then start in mid-2025.
A plug-in hybrid powertrain will also follow around that year.
Audi will announce information on all powertrains soon.
