These forgotten sedans are still driving around in the Netherlands

November 7, 2022

From an NSU to Austin

Granted, it was a small gathering of sedans, but the cars present were no less interesting for it. So what was there to see? At least consider a still very nice 1972 NSU Ro 80 that has been in the Netherlands since 2000. Also present was the Netherlands’ only Austin Montego 2.0 GTI, a 1990 car that has been in the Netherlands since 2018.

Mercedes-Benz 500 E

A 1992 Mercedes-Benz 500 E (in the Netherlands since 2007) made a lightning visit to the event, fortunately we still have the photos. Also worth mentioning is a 1994 Volkswagen Vento VR6. Perhaps not the most spectacular present, but as a VR6 certainly a ‘spot’. Anyway, you don’t actually see the Vento driven very often anymore.

Unique Nissan, Lancia and Alfa Romeo

Truly exclusive is a 1989 Nissan Skyline 3.0 SGLi sedan, in the Netherlands since 2019. And when was the last time you saw a 1988 Lancia Prisma 4WD? That was probably a while ago. You don’t run into a 1973 Alfa Romeo Giulia Super 1.3 Lusso every day either.

DAF 55 Marathon

Toward the end of the meeting, this as-new 1969 DAF 55 Marathon comes to check it out. Imported from Sweden. There the mud flaps were mandatory, that had to do with how far the rear wheels are from the rear. This DAF is from the days when “Marathon” was an option package rather than a “real” version.

Many more forgotten sedans

Of course, there was much more beauty on display. Below is a listing of special sedans. You can find pictures of all the cars at the bottom of this article.
