The Batur is the most powerful Bentley ever

August 22, 2022

Bentley Mulliner Batur

The Batur is the second model from Bentley Mulliner Coachbuilt: the division that produces highly exclusive bespoke models and one-offs. Only the very richest of the world knock on the door of this department for a car. In 2020 we were first introduced to a project by Bentley Mulliner Coachbuilt: the 659 hp Bacalar. Bentley asked 1.5 million pounds for the two-seater without a roof with a barchetta design.

Coachbuilt

For Mulliner’s latest “coachbuilt” model, you’ll have to plunk down an extra 165,000 pounds. You do get the most powerful Bentley ever built. Moreover, the Batur looks like no other Bentley. At least, for now. Because according to the brand, we are going to see the design language of the Batur also on future models with an electric powertrain. The first Bentley EV will hit the market in 2025.

740 hp

The Batur is anything but electric. The familiar W12 engine makes another appearance and is more powerful than ever. The engine is equipped with better turbochargers, powerful intercoolers and numerous small upgrades. As a result, Bentley manages to squeeze 740 hp and 1,000 Nm from the 6.0-liter twelve-cylinder. So the stately coupe is considerably more powerful than the brash barchetta.

Sold out

Like its predecessor – the Bacalar – the Batur is named after a large pool of water: the 88-meter-deep Lake Batur in Bali. Bentley enthusiasts who are willing to spend the equivalent of 1.95 million euros (excluding taxes) for the Batur are out of luck: All 18 examples have already been sold.
