Tesla is working on a wireless charger
Wireless charger
Rumors have been circulating for some time that Tesla is developing a wireless charger. Obviously not to charge a smartphone, but a Model S, 3, X, Y or Cybertruck. Franz von Holzhausen, Tesla’s design boss, has now officially confirmed that the company is working on this. In a video on the YouTube channel of American former talk show host and car enthusiast Jay Leno, von Holzhausen says, “We are working on inductive charging. That way you don’t have to connect charging cables anymore. You just drive over the charger in your garage and charging begins.”
Good idea?
It seems like a convenient solution, eliminating the need to juggle awkward charging cables. But anyone who has ever wirelessly charged their smartphone knows that this process is often slow. And a phone still has a relatively small battery, but with an electric car, that’s a different story. Of course, you will also need your own garage, which I America is quite common, but not in Europe.
