Suzuki Vitara gets an update, but what’s new?
Design Suzuki Vitara 2024
The updated Suzuki Vitara can be recognized by a new front bumper, a sporty-looking grille finished in piano black, extra-trimmed side screens and new alloy wheels. There are also two new exterior colors.
Colors Vitara
The Vitara is available with a choice of ten stylish colors, including five single-tone and five two-tone colors. The range of single-tone colors includes: White, Cool White Pearl, Silky Silver Metallic, Cosmic Black Pearl Metallic and the new color Titan Dark Gray Pearl Metallic. The lineup of two-tone colors with a roof in the contrasting color Cosmic Black Pearl Metallic is as follows: Bright Red, Solar Yellow Pearl Metallic, Savanna Ivory Metalic, Ice Grayish Blue Metallic and the new Sphere Blue Pearl.
New safety systems
The Vitara benefits from several new safety systems. There are five major updates for the updated Suzuki Vitara:
- Dual Sensor Brake Support II (DSBS II): the detection area has been increased over the previous model, detecting objects earlier. The system detects vehicles, (motor) bikes and pedestrians directly or diagonally in front of the vehicle.
- Driver Monitoring System (DMS): if this system detects that the driver is drowsy, falling asleep or looking away from the road, a warning alarm sounds and a warning message is displayed on the infotainment system display.
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC): this system uses millimeter wave radar and a monocular camera to measure the distance to the car in front. ACC will accelerate or decelerate the vehicle as necessary to maintain a set distance. When the road is clear again, the set speed resumes.
- Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) / Speed Limiter: thanks to traffic sign recognition, the driver is always aware of the speed limit. ACC is also coupled with traffic sign recognition to help drivers comply with posted speed limits. Speed information is shown on the display. The Speed Limiter limits vehicle speed to the speed set by the driver. This function can also be used in conjunction with TSR to match the speed to the speed limit.
- Lane Keeping Assist (LKA): LKA helps keep the car in the center of the lane after ACC activation. If lane markings are unclear, the system uses information detected from the driving path of the vehicle in front.
New infotainment system with 9-inch display
The updated Suzuki Vitara further benefits from a completely new infotainment system with 9-inch display. Through this new system, the driver can quickly and easily select the desired vehicle functions. The system also supports smartphone connectivity via USB and Wi-Fi and is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Thanks to Suzuki Connect, owners can remotely access various vehicle information via a smartphone app. Suzuki Connect can also be paired with the infotainment system.
Suzuki Vitara powertrains
The Suzuki Vitara is available as a 1.5 Hybrid Automatic or a 1.4 Boosterjet Smart Hybrid. The 1.5 Hybrid Automatic features a Motor Generator Unit (MGU), a 140-volt lithium-ion battery and a six-speed Auto Gear Shift (AGS) transmission. Alternatively, Suzuki provides the 1.4 Boosterjet Smart Hybrid. It is paired with a 48 SHVS mild-hybrid system and a six-speed manual transmission. The SHVS mild-hybrid system uses an integrated starter generator (ISG) and a 48V lithium-ion battery.
AllGrip Select 4WD system
The updated Suzuki Vitara is optionally available with AllGrip Select 4WD. The system has several modes, namely Auto, Sport, Snow and a Lock mode. Changing driving modes is easy via the push-and-twist knob on the center console.
Market launch Suzuki Vitara
The Suzuki Vitara model year 2024 is expected to arrive in Dutch showrooms in early summer. More information on pricing, trim levels and specifications will follow ahead of the market launch. Like any other Suzuki, the Vitara benefits from 6 years or 150,000 kilometers of factory warranty.
