Suzuki and Toyota join hands for new electric SUV
Lead
Toyota and Suzuki have launched several models together before, but until now – especially in Europe – it was always Suzuki that borrowed a Toyota model and put it in its own jacket. This time the roles are turning: Suzuki will take the lead in developing a new model, while Toyota will take care of global distribution. Production will begin in spring 2025 at Suzuki’s plant in Gujarat, India, where the first examples will roll off the assembly line. The Toyota-Suzuki-EV is also coming to the Netherlands.
Scoop in collaboration
This new model – about which little else is known – marks a first within the Suzuki and Toyota partnership: in fact, it is their first all-electric SUV. According to the brands, the car is designed for both driving pleasure and comfort, with a considerable range and an option for all-wheel drive.
Teamwork
Not only is the EV the result of a collaboration between Suzuki and Toyota, but Daihatsu has also contributed. The three companies combined their expertise to develop a platform for the new SUV.
Collaboration
The history of Suzuki and Toyota, by the way, goes back further than you might think. Both companies once began making looms in the Enshu region. Only later did they venture into cars, and the rest is history. Since 2016, the brands have been working together on cars.
