SUMMER WEEK #6: New Renault Sport Spider, bring it on!
Renault Sport Spider
The Renault Sport Spider is a sports car produced by the French car manufacturer Renault between 1996 and 1999.
Minimalist design
The Renault Sport Spider has a striking and minimalist design with no roof or side windows, adding to its pure sports car appearance. The car is built with an aluminum chassis and a fiberglass body to keep the weight down. The focus is on a pure driving experience without comfort compromises. The Sport Spider is a compact and lightweight sports car, measuring about 3.8 meters in length and weighing around 930 kg. This low weight contributes to the car’s agility and performance.
Powertrain Renault Sport Spider
The car is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine taken from the Renault Clio Williams, which produces about 150 horsepower. This engine is mated to a five-speed transmission. Thanks to its low weight, the Sport Spider can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in about 6.9 seconds, with a top speed of around 215 km/h. Designed for driving pleasure, Renault Sport Spider offers a direct, pure driving experience. The combination of rear-wheel drive, low weight and a sport-tuned chassis provides excellent handling and grip. The open cockpit enhances the feeling of speed and connection to the road.
Limited edition
The Sport Spider was aimed at pure sports car enthusiasts and was produced in limited numbers, with about 1,800 units built. It was available in two versions: a street-legal version and a racing version for track use.
