Strong growth in motorcycle sales 2024
New motorcycle sales fell 10.4 percent in September (1,273 registrations) compared with September 2023, when 1,420 motorcycles were registered.
However, the first three quarters of 2024 still showed growth: a total of 17,090 new motorcycles were registered, up 10.5 percent compared to the same period year (15,462 registrations).
Growing popularity motorcycle
According to RAI Association, BOVAG and RDC, these figures are proof of the growing popularity of the motorcycle.
Martijn van Eikenhorst, section manager Motorcycles at RAI Association: “The motorcycle is also becoming increasingly important as a means of transport in urban mobility. Especially for commuting, the motorcycle offers many advantages. It is time for employers to embrace the motorcycle and offer it as a mobility option. This fits within modern employment practices and contributes to efficient, sustainable and flexible mobility solutions for their employees.”
Weather game-changer for motorcycle sales
The dip in motorcycle sales in September 2024 is attributed to moderate weather.
Maarten Mastop, branch manager at BOVAG Motorized Two-wheeler Companies: “September was a wet month with unpredictable weather conditions. Our members hear this from consumers, and we see it reflected in the sales figures of both new and used motorcycles. The next few months will reveal how the market continues to develop.”
