Spotted: the upcoming MG S6 EV
Basically, you can enjoy our column Gespot every Friday afternoon, but sometimes we make an exception and an extra edition appears. For example, when earlier this year we already had the new BMW 3 Serie ‘Neue Klasse’ in front of the camera, thanks to an attentive AutoRAI reader. Now we came across a yet-to-be-revealed car ourselves. In an Amsterdam parking garage, we found ourselves face to face with the MG S6 EV out of the blue.
Although the car is still covered in a layer of camouflage, we already get a nice first impression of the MG S6 EV. Incidentally, patent images are already circulating on the Internet showing the car as a plain gray 3D model.
As the name suggests, this model will eventually be at the top of the current MG lineup. A mid-size SUV, similar in positioning and size to, say, the Volkswagen ID.4. In some markets, the S6 will be the successor to the (almost 4.7-meter-long) MG Marvel R, with us probably as well.

We already know this about the MG S6 EV
So nothing has been officially announced yet, but patent applications and type approvals have already been filed ahead of various market launches. So we already know that the standard powertrain will have a 62 kWh LFP battery, combined with 180 kW (245 hp) at the rear wheels. Optional is a 77 kWh NCM battery. Also with rear-wheel drive, but optionally an additional 119 kW (162 hp) motor on the front axle provides all-wheel drive with a system output of 266 kW (362 hp).
Furthermore, there are three trim levels, largely related to the three powertrains. The MG S6 EV sits on the Modular Scalable Platform platform (also called the Nebula platform by the brand), which we already know from the more compact MG4 and MG S5 EV. So Australian type approval does suggest that the S6 will get its own battery offering.
When will the MG S6 EV go on sale?
In several markets, the MG S6 EV is expected in late 2025 or early 2026. Nothing is yet known about the European/Dutch market introduction. The fact that we encounter it now in Amsterdam suggests that it will also appear at our place around that time.
