Solid technical upgrade for Hyundai Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid

November 17, 2025

Hyundai Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid MY26: more power

The main change for the Hyundai Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid MY26 concerns the increased powertrain system power. The combined power output of version MY26 is 288 hp, an increase of 36 hp over the MY25 version. Maximum torque also increases: from 367 Nm to 380 Nm. The internal combustion engine itself now produces 180 hp instead of 158 hp.

This upgrade translates directly into better performance as well as a substantially higher towing weight. The Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid MY26 can tow up to 1,700 kg braked. That is 690 kg more than its predecessor. This makes the SUV ideal for towing a trailer, caravan or horse trailer, for example.

New version names, recognizable equipment

To bring the equipment levels of the Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid MY26 in line with the rest of the model range, their names are being changed. The Comfort Smart version will henceforth go by the name Comfort Plus. The Premium Plus variant is now called Premium Pro. These changes only concern the naming; the equipment of the models remains unchanged.

There are also minor changes in standard equipment. For example, the rear seat hook and the safety hammer in the glove box in the Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid MY26 are discontinued. Other comfort and safety features remain available as before.

Up to 54 kilometers of all-electric driving

The plug-in hybrid drive (PHEV) combines a 1.6-liter T-GDI Smartstream gasoline engine with an electric motor and a 13.8 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery. Thus, this SUV offers the ability to drive electric when the battery is charged, and switches to the gasoline engine when the battery is depleted. MY26 has all-wheel drive and can travel up to 54 kilometers fully electric.

Space for up to seven people

The Hyundai Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid MY26 seats up to seven people. In the six-seat version, the deluxe power-adjustable independent seats with armrests in the second row of seats provide great comfort for the rear passengers. In addition to room for up to seven passengers, there is also room for 621 liters of luggage. With the backs of the second and third rows of seats folded down, this can be expanded to as much as 1,942 liters. So quite a spacious thing, the Santa Fe.
