So to the Netherlands after all: the heavily refreshed Mazda 2
Major update for Mazda 2
Once the fireworks have popped on Dec. 31, eyes can turn back to automaker Mazda. Indeed, the Japanese market considers it important to keep its models up to date. Mazda does that with annual updates. The Mazda 2 for the 2023 model year – and we are not referring to the Mazda 2 Hybrid based on the Toyota Yaris – has had a considerably major update, with an updated exterior and interior design, two new body colors, a new equipment structure and two new special edition models.
Two new body colors for Mazda 2
What’s all new? The Mazda 2 gets a different front end with a new grille and front bumper. Mazda also paints the B-segment hatchback in the new colors Aero Grey and Air Stream Blue upon request. The interior has been taken to the next level with new trim on the instrument panel, air vents and door panels, updated upholstery.
Homura and Homura Aka
The Homura and Homura Aka versions are new. These versions feature a specifically designed grille and alloy wheels, unique exterior and interior color schemes, and extensive standard equipment. The versions feature black mesh in the grille, black exterior mirror caps and 16-inch alloy wheels, red front and rear accents, specifically designed interiors with black seat and door trim, red seat stitching and dark red rings around the air vents. Looks pretty cool.
Engines Mazda 2 2023
The 2023 model year Mazda2 should also drive more enjoyably, as the characteristics of the front and rear dampers have also been further optimized. Mazda delivers the updated 2 in the Netherlands with a choice of two Skyactiv-G 1.5-liter gasoline engines: a 90-hp version with a 6-speed automatic transmission and a 90-hp manual version with mild hybrid technology.
Adjustments
The Skyactiv-G 1.5-liter gasoline engine features Mazda-developed Diagonal Vortex Combustion technology and a higher compression ratio of 15:1 to reduce fuel consumption by 6.8 percent and CO2 emissions by 9 to 12 percent according to the WLTP standard.
The updated Mazda2 is expected to arrive in Dutch showrooms in early June.
