Skoda Fabia Rally2 is hot hatch, but for only one country

October 23, 2024

B-segment hot hatchback

It’s been a long time since we could meet a B-segment hot hatchback with an old school gasoline engine. Skoda proves with this Skoda Fabia Rally2 that it can still be done. Buy? Then you really must live in Spain, because that is the only country where this limited edition will be marketed.

José Antonio ‘Cohete’ Suárez

The Skoda Fabia Rally2 was developed in collaboration with José Antonio “Cohete” Suárez. He is an Asturian rally driver who won the Spanish Rally Super Championship (S-CER) in 2021 and 2023. As such, the Fabia Rally2 benefits from a power boost. In fact, this Fabia is the most powerful Fabia ever built by Skoda.

The turbocharged 1.5-liter TSI four-cylinder engine is tuned to produce 140 kW (190 hp) and 290 Nm of torque. This represents an increase of 29 kW (40 hp) and 40 Nm compared to the standard version, made possible by the ABT Sportsline kit. Power is transmitted exclusively to the front wheels via a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission.

In addition to the extra look, the Fabia Rally2 features a sport chassis, which has been lowered 15 mm. It also sits on a new set of black 17-inch OZ Racing Superturismo WRC wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires.

Appearance

Other motorsport references include the rear spoiler and matte black rear fenders. As for badges, there is an ABT emblem on the front fenders, Rally2 and “Cohete” Suarez badges on the tailgate, plus a laurel on the rear pillar, commemorating victories in the Spanish Rally Super Championship. Inside, there is black upholstery for the seats, a sports steering wheel with shift paddles, the Rally2 emblem and a numbered plaque with the driver’s signature.

Pricey, even in Spain!

100 copies of the Skoda Fabia Rally2 will be produced, all reserved for the Spanish market. The only way to get one to the Netherlands will soon be via import. The car will cost 30,900 euros in Spain. The first deliveries will start in March 2025. Those who are the first to place their order will be able to take a ride in the Fabia RS Rally2 together with “Cohete” Suárez, as part of a special event.
