RV madness: why 2025 is already a historic year

September 30, 2025

New motorhomes fly out of the showroom

According to BOVAG and the Camping and Caravan Industry (KCI), 2,558 new motorhomes were registered this year through mid-September. Last year, the counter stuck at 2,465 – and that was already considered a big plus then. Roel Reineman, president of KCI, expects 2025 to go into the books as historic: “The order books are well filled and the upcoming Camping and Caravan Jaarbeurs has some great deals on offer, so I expect that in the last quarter we will push on toward a historically high sales total of 3,000 new motorhomes in 2025.”

Caravans remain popular

Not only campers are doing well. Caravans are also finding their way to the Dutch holidaymaker. Until mid-September, 6,174 new caravans were sold, slightly more than in the same period last year. This again confirms the Netherlands’ reputation as the caravan country of Europe.

Record number of campers

Together, motorhomes and caravans create a record fleet on Dutch roads and campsites. As of September 1, 2025, there were 633,802 units registered, nearly 12,000 more than a year earlier. Of these, 208,374 are motorhomes and 425,945 are caravans. The used market also remains stable, with over 12,000 used motorhomes sold and over 11,000 used caravans.
