Rise in motorcycle sales continues
The month of June 2024 also shows a growth of 4.2% (2,203 registrations) compared to June 2023, when 2,115 motorcycles were registered. It appears from data made public by RAI Vereniging, BOVAG and RDC.
Motorcycle increasingly used for commuting
“These figures are in line with what we have seen over the past few years: motorcycles are becoming increasingly popular,” said Martijn van Eikenhorst, section manager Motorcycles at RAI Association: “We are seeing a substantial growth in motorcycle sales, more people are getting their motorcycle licenses and the target group is widening. The motorcycle is not only a leisure activity, but is also increasingly used for commuting and in urban mobility.”
Which motorcycle sells best?
The Yamaha MT-07 was the best-selling motorcycle in June 2024. This model also showed up at the top of the sales charts in 2023, as did the BMW R 1250 GS. Its successor, the R 1300 GS, now ranks second in June 2024, and in third place is the Kawasaki Z900. BMW’s R 1250 GS was still on sale in June, by the way, and is in fourth place. In short, the BMW GS with boxer engine is still selling like a rocket.
Which motorcycle brand will be popular in 2024?
Over the first six months of 2024, Kawasaki records a first-place finish. Yamaha and BMW take spots two and three, respectively. Honda and Suzuki are in fourth and fifth place. Suzuki, by the way, was significantly behind with 914 registrations. The number four recorded 1,647 registrations over the same period and leader Kawasaki 1,966 registrations. So the top four are pretty close together.
