Review – Mercedes-Benz CLE 200 (2024), the points of interest at a glance
Mercedes-Benz CLE Coupe
Let’s talk about price first, because a Mercedes-Benz CLE is not very cheap.
Prices for the CLE 180 start at just under 64,000 euros.
If you want the CLE 200, you’ll spend over 72,000 euros.
You can also get this CLE 200 with 4Matic all-wheel drive.
Then you’re talking 76,000 euros.
Can it get any more expensive? Definitely! The top version – the CLE 53 4Matic+ Coupe costs 134,000 euros.
But then you have 330 kW (449 hp) + 17 kW (23 hp) EQ Boost.
All engines are mild hybrids with an integrated starter alternator and a 48V on-board grid.
There is a choice of four-cylinders and – as the top engine – a 3.0-liter six-in-line gasoline engine.
Design CLE Coupe
A long wheelbase, a far-forward and sharply sloping A-pillar, a short front overhang, a slightly longer rear overhang, a pronounced shoulder area and large rims, the new CLE Coupe is definitely a beauty.
It is a beauty, especially in the color you see here in the photos and video in this article.
The car is considerably larger than a C-Class Coupe while being 2 mm lower and 15 mm longer than an E-Class Coupe.
Also remarkably spacious!
The CLE is also surprisingly spacious. With a length of 4,850 mm, a width of 1,860 mm and a height of 1,428 mm, the new two-door model is the largest coupe in the mid-size segment. Thanks to the 25 mm longer wheelbase, the CLE Coupe offers significantly more space than the C-Class Coupe.
This benefits the rear passengers in particular.
In the rear seats, we are talking about a gain of 10 mm more headroom, 19 mm more shoulder and elbow room and 72 mm more knee space.
You can genuinely sit there well, but preferably not for too long.
You may consider the rear seat mainly as extra storage space.
The luggage compartment further offers 60 liters more capacity.
Three golf bags fit inside with ease.
Ten points of interest Mercedes-Benz CLE
Anyone interested in buying a Mercedes-Benz CLE obviously needs to know a few things that you can only experience in practice.
We list ten points of interest.
- During boarding, the seat belt is handed to you, is that sweet of Mercedes-Benz for a moment.
- The new CLE drives particularly nimble.
- The engine sound can be additionally amplified through the speakers, should you like it.
- The CLE 200 is not overly fast, but it is pleasantly smooth.
- Consumption of 6.5 l/100 km is perfectly feasible in practice.
This results in a range of over 800 kilometers on a full tank of fuel, if you take it easy. - The car offers nice steering feel
- The CLE has a fine, remarkably low seating position, so you get a good feel for what the car is doing with your bibs.
- All-round visibility is good for this type of car.
Pay attention to the wheels, though.
Thanks to the low tire cheek, the rims are prone to curb damage - When opening the power trunk lid, you have to push the lid further yourself.
It opens halfway. Something to keep in mind. - The use of materials in the interior is of a high standard, only the haptic buttons on the steering wheel do not work pleasantly.
Moreover, the high-gloss black on the steering wheel reflects in the sun and is prone to greasy fingers and scratches.
WHAT A BEAUTY!

Interior eye-catchers
The interior of the Mercedes-Benz CLE is a jewel in some ways.
Look, for example, at the freestanding, all-digital 12.3-inch combination instrument, the driver-facing 11.9-inch central display and the dynamic ambient lighting with 64 colors.
Especially “by night,” the interior looks very atmospheric.
If desired, the ambient lighting can extend from the center console to below the outer air outlets. In each of the doors, a light strip runs along the contours of the armrest and the top of the doors toward the rear.
Fine chairs
Another highlight are the front seats developed exclusively for the CLE. Combined with the optional Burmester 3D surround sound system, they each have two speakers at the height of the headrests. Thanks to Dolby Atmos and Spatial Audio, music then really comes alive.
Dynamic Body Control
The optional Dynamic Body Control with continuously adjustable damping on the front and rear axles combined with rear axle steering is worth considering. The steering angle is a maximum of 2.5°. This reduces the turning radius by 50 cm. Despite its larger dimensions, the rear-wheel-drive CLE Coupe has a smaller turning radius than the C-Class Coupe (10.7 instead of 11.2 meters).
