Review – Is the MGS6 EV (2026) really a good deal?
Competitors MGS6 EV
With the MGS6 EV, MG Motor is aiming at models like the Tesla Model Y, Skoda Enyaq, Nissan Ariya, BYD Sealion 7, Toyota C-HR+, Renault Scenic E-Tech Electric and Volkswagen ID.4. So alternatives are plentiful. Most of these models start under 40,000 euros. Then a mere 46,000 euros for this MGS6 EV seems on the high side, doesn’t it?
Driving range
Well, MG Motor sees it differently. You have to look at the total picture. Where with most competitors you still have to upgrade to a higher equipment level, a larger battery or a more powerful powertrain, MG tackles firmly right away. That requires an explanation. Starting with the base version, the MGS6 EV benefits from a 77 kWh battery pack, good for 530 kilometers (WLTP) of driving range in the MGS6 EV Luxury Long Range and up to 485 km (WLTP) for the all-wheel drive Luxury Dual Motor. The latter premium version costs €48,750 versus €45,750 for the entry-level version. By the way, the latter has a net additional tax rate of 260 euros per month (additional tax rate 18% on the first 30,000 euros and 22% on remaining amount, based on tax value 44,621 euros and tax bracket 35.7%).
Is the MG S6 EV (2026) really a good deal? – REVIEW – AutoRAI TV
The performance of the MG S6
The rear-wheel-drive Luxury Long Range with a single electric motor offers 180 kW (244 hp) of power and 350 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. The Luxury Dual Motor – with an electric motor on the front and rear axles – has a system output of 266 kW (361 hp) and 540 Nm of torque. This version sprints from 0-100 km/h in 5.1 seconds. AWD mode is automatically engaged if there is insufficient traction. The top speed of both versions is capped at 200 km/h, and both models can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 38 minutes using a quick charger. And for completeness, both variants have a braked towing weight of 1,500 kilograms. The Luxury Dual Motor has an unladen weight of 2,005 kilograms, versus 1,908 kilograms for the Luxury Long Range.
No options except the color
With all these figures in mind, it gets pretty interesting. Because for your investment, you immediately get a big battery, lots of power and a solid driving range. So MG seems to have done its homework well. As a consumer, your first thought is: 45,750 euros for the basic version is a lot of money. But you can’t really talk about a basic version, because you go all-in immediately. The only thing left to decide is whether you want a gray or beige interior and what color will make your knees buckle. There is a choice of Stratford Gold (standard color) or you pay 650 euros extra for Dover White, Pebble Black, Cosmic Silver, Camden Grey, Diamond Red or Piccadilly Blue.

Rich equipment
Things like 20-inch Gulfstream-style alloy wheels, a panoramic glass roof with electric roller blind, seats with gray leather upholstery with suede trim in a carbon look, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a 10.25-inch HD driver display, 12.8-inch HD color touchscreen, head-up display, ambient lighting and a wireless phone charger are all standard. The top version offers no extras in terms of equipment, but in terms of tech, you benefit from a 119 kW electric motor on the front axle, all-wheel drive and 540 Nm (+190 Nm compared to the Luxury Long Range).
Dimensions
Rich in stuff, then, but is the MGS6 EV also a practical family SUV? Yes indeed, because the space is impressive! The car measures 4,708 mm in length, 1,912 mm in width and 1,672 mm in height. The wheelbase comes out to a hefty 2,835 mm. In the rear in particular, you benefit from extreme leg and headroom. The rear bench seat is also comfortable, partly because the battery is only 110 mm high.

Luggage space and huge frunk
Thanks to the standard panoramic roof, you also experience plenty of space. A total of 674 liters of luggage space is available, which can be expanded to 1,910 liters when the rear seats are folded down. In addition, the S6 EV also has a frunk. This has a capacity of 124 liters in the rear-wheel drive version. In the AWD version, it is 102 liters. The electric motor on the front axle then takes up some space. Still, in all cases, the frunk is extremely large. Even spacious enough to store an overnight bag.
hefty displays
The interior of the MGS6 EV looks high-quality. The brand uses handsome and generally soft materials. The car features a floating 12.8-inch HD touchscreen and a customizable 10.25-inch HD instrument display, complemented by a head-up display and practical physical controls for the climate and audio systems, among others. So on that front, this MG scores the necessary points. A vented wireless phone charger with 50 W of power has also been thought of. How nice.
All versions of the MGS6 EV have Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and built-in apps such as YouTube, Spotify, TikTok and Amazon Music. The car also has an audio system with 11 speakers. Via the iSMART app, it is possible to pre-heat or cool the interior, even while the car is still “hanging” on the charger.

Operation infotainment is okay
We label the operation of the infotainment system as fine. There are still more logical systems on the market, but this system also works well. Some things are translated crookedly, though, such as “automatic high beams. Well, that’s just automatic high beams, of course. MG is going to modify it, so the promise is. On the steering wheel are two favorites buttons. With these you can, for example, make a shortcut to the menu of driving assistance systems. There you turn off what you think should be turned off. On the road, there are quite a few bells and whistles. Fortunately, a lot can also be turned off.
5 stars
The MGS6 EV received 5 Euro NCAP stars, thanks in part to a score of 92 percent for adult occupants and 84 percent for vulnerable road users. So the car may be described as safe. As standard, the model also has seven airbags and MG Pilot, which includes Active Emergency Braking, four separate lane assistance systems, blind spot detection, intelligent speed assistance and a driver monitoring system. So nice and complete on this front as well.
One-Pedal mode
The MGS6 EV also features five energy recovery modes, including a One-Pedal mode where the car actually comes to a stop. Top! You also have a choice of five driving modes, namely Normal, Sport, Comfort, Custom and Snow . In “Sport” mode, the driveline is truly hyper-alert. In Normal mode, the car can also be driven very quietly. The top model with 361 hp is extremely fast. Because the model features independent MacPherson front suspension and multi-link rear suspension, it also feels particularly mature while driving. During our first test miles, we ended up with an average energy consumption of 24.7 kWh per 10 kilometers.
Conclusion MGS6 EV review
Pretty impressive, then, this MGS6 EV. It is smooth, spacious, comfortable and extremely richly equipped. In terms of starting price, it is above competitors, but those competitors often offer options and upgrades. This car doesn’t really need that. It is an all-inclusive car. Those with smart calculations will find that this MG is actually not that expensive compared to its competitors. In fact, it’s quite a competitive deal.
