Review – Hyundai Ioniq 6 N (2026) convinces on all fronts

April 9, 2026

Form follows function

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is a car you may or may not be a fan of. In fact, the design is quite special. This is a typical case of form follows function. Aerodynamics is key with the Ioniq 6. You have to understand that. Nor is this South Korean small. With a length of 4.93 meters, this car is well-sized. It is further 1.94 meters wide and 1.49 meters high. The wheelbase is huge, namely 2,935 mm. Small note: the wheelbase of the Ioniq 5 is larger compared to this Ioniq 6. But overall, the Ioniq 6 is 22 centimeters longer. That’s purely in the aerodynamic shape.

Facelift Hyundai Ioniq 6

You must have already noticed: the Hyundai Ioniq 6 N is coming to market with the new face of the Ioniq 6. The regular versions of the Ioniq 6 will follow in the second quarter. Hyundai kicks off this facelift with the spectacular N version. Spectacular this N trim is most certainly. A huge rear spoiler, specific front and rear bumper, enlarged wheel arches, 20-inch alloy wheels with 275/35 R20 Pirelli P-Zero 5 tires, various N logos, high-gloss black elements, that you are dealing with the most bad-ass Ioniq 6 the whole world may know. By the way, there is a choice of Nocturne Gray Metallic, Abyss Black Pearl, Performance Blue Pearl, Serenity White Pearl, Gravity Gold Matte and Nocturne Gray Matte colors. White is the standard color.

Spectacular EV technology

Under the skin lurks spectacular EV technology. The car uses two electric motors. The electric motor on the front axle produces 166 kW (226 hp), while the electric motor on the rear axle squeezes 282 kW (383 hp) from its coil. The result? A system output of 448 kW (609 hp) and 740 Nm of torque. If you use N Grin Boost, you produce for ten seconds of extra power and torque, namely 478 kW (650 hp) and 770 Nm of pulling power. Of this, 175 kW (238 hp) goes to the front axle and 303 kW (412 hp) to the rear axle. Recharging time is also ten seconds.

84 kWh battery

In the belly of the Ioniq 6 N lies an 84 kWh battery pack that can be recharged from 10 to 80 percent in 18 minutes at a 350 kW fast charger. The Ioniq 6 N accelerates – thanks to N Launch Control and 770 Nm of torque – from standstill to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds and has a top speed of 257 km/h. The nicest features in this Ioniq 6 N? Definitely N Torque Distribution, which allows you to adjust the torque between the front and rear axles in eleven steps. So only rear-wheel drive is possible! Another nice invention: N e-Shift with which the car simulates the shift feel of a fuel-engine car and conventional transmission. Simply brilliant! There are even exhaust squalls sounding from the speakers in the back of the car to enhance this feeling.

N Active Sound+, which can be even better

Another critical note about N Active Sound+. In fact, only the motorsport-inspired Ignition sound increases the party atmosphere. The “Evolution” and “Lightspeed” sound themes are redundant as far as we are concerned. Better would be if you could choose from a four-cylinder, V6 or V8 sound. No one is waiting for the sound of a fighter jet.

Serious undercarriage

All that power naturally requires a serious chassis, too. The Hyundai N Division has completely revised the suspension for the Ioniq 6 N, with a lowered ride height and electronically controlled stroke sensing (ECS) dampers for better stability, grip as well as comfort. The car also has an N Drift Optimizer, which allows parameters such as drift angle and wheel slip to be adjusted. All this with only one goal: the perfect drift. In fact, this is a mode for people who have no experience with drifting. It is too artificial. Those who do know how to do it: N Torque Distribution is your greatest friend, especially since the car also has a limited slip differential on the rear axle and can send up to 412 horsepower toward the rear axle. Party!

Lots of N systems

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 N also features N Ambient Shift Light: an interior light signal that visually indicates optimal shift times. The N Track Manager allows the driver to create his or her personal layouts of tracks, analyze data and track virtual “opponents. Actually, this model has too much on board to name. In short, it boils down to the following:

Multiple faces

Anyone reading the above may think that the new Ioniq 6 N has only more of a “wild” stance, but that is not true. This is a car with multiple faces. Only upon request does this car show its muscle while driving. Those who want to take it easy can do so without any problem. After all, the Ioniq 6 N is still basically that everyman’s friend with nice interior space and good ergonomics. Not to mention excellent charging times. Only try holding back in a 6 N. This car loves to be challenged. As far as we are concerned, one of the most fun EVs ever built. More fun and dynamic than an Ioniq 5 N. The design has to suit you, but on the road this car is like a block. What a party animal. This car convinces on all fronts!
