Renault comes up with historic names for new electric commercial vehicles
The new Renault Trafic, Estafette and Goelette E-Tech electric are basically developed by Flexis. This is a joint venture between Renault Group, Volvo Group and CMA-CGM. These commercial vehicles are based on a 100% electric “skateboard” platform that offers many opportunities for customization combined with favorable operating costs. Renault’s three new models will be built at its Sandouville plant in France and will enter the market in 2026.
Renault Trafic E-Tech electric
The first of the three new electric commercial vehicles is the fourth generation of the Renault Trafic. This model competes with models such as the Volkswagen Transporter, Opel Vivaro and Peugeot Expert. The new version looks considerably more modern than the current Trafic and demonstrates Renault’s new design language for light commercial vehicles. Technical specifications will follow later. The makers do reveal in advance that its turning radius is similar to that of a Renault Clio, while its height of less than 1.90 meters allows easy access to underground parking garages.
Renault Goelette E-Tech electric
The new Renault Goelette E-Tech electric is named after a Renault commercial vehicle from the 1950s. This version is the same as the new Trafic up to the B-pillar and will be available in three versions: with a closed cargo box, as a tipper and as a chassis cab suitable for numerous different conversions, tailored to customers’ specific needs.
Renault Estafette E-Tech electric
The new Estafette E-Tech electric is a modern interpretation of Renault’s iconic van from the 1960s. This van was developed primarily for delivery services, where the driver often needs to get in and out and be in the cargo area. The Estafette is 5.27 meters long and 2.60 meters high, allowing persons up to 1.90 meters tall to move freely between the cab and cargo area. It also has a roll-up door at the rear, while the driver’s door is sliding.
