Renault 5 Turbo 3E goes into production! No joke!
Renault 5 Turbo 3E tastes like more
The Renault 5 Turbo 3E is a modern, electric-powered interpretation of the Renault 5 Turbo and Turbo 2 from the 1980s. Renault promises adrenaline on wheels, ultimate driving pleasure and powerful acceleration. That promises something! Several events will follow in 2025 where more details about the future Renault 5 Turbo 3E will be released. We can’t wait! But what about, exactly, Anatomy of a Comeback? This documentary was shot over two years and consists of four forty-minute episodes. The series was produced by Sans Borne and Breath Film (Elephant).
The story of Anatomy of a Comeback
From December 13, 2024, the docu can be seen on Prime Video. The series tells the story of how Renault Group managed to emerge from an unprecedented crisis – a challenge unparalleled in the industry. In early 2021, when the company was in dire straits, the Renaulution strategic plan was presented as a roadmap for a revolution in the automotive industry. One last chance. With this documentary, Renault provides an inside look at the company, showing production secrets and development of new models, such as the Renault 5. The series also takes a look at the Alpine Formula One Team.
New production model
Renault is also using the documentary to reveal the arrival of a new production model. At the end of the fourth and final episode – when Luca de Meo, CEO of Renault Group, Fabrice Cambolive, CEO of Renault, and Gilles Vidal, VP Renault Design, visit the design department to see the Renault 5 Turbo 3E – Luca de Meo confirms that the model will go into production. No less than 46 years after the launch of the first Renault 5 Turbo, enthusiasts will once again be delighted with the return of an icon.
All-electric sports car with retro-futuristic design
In addition to confirming its arrival, the documentary also previews the future production model. The Renault 5 Turbo 3E was previously presented as a concept car of the same name at the 2022 Mondial de l’Auto in Paris. It is a modern interpretation of the Renault 5 Turbo and Turbo 2. With its looks and color scheme, it is reminiscent of the rally versions of the early 1980s. The Renault 5 Turbo 3E is an all-electric sports car with a retro-futuristic design. The plug connector in one of the rear air intakes is a reference to the original Turbo design. The carbon fiber body combines low weight with exceptional rigidity – two characteristics for a “pocket rocket” that lives up to its name and heritage.
Rear-wheel drive!
Like its iconic predecessor, the Renault 5 Turbo 3E gets rear-wheel drive. The two electric motors deliver their power directly to the rear wheels, with a combined output of over 368 kW (500 hp). Drivers are treated to ultimate driving pleasure and lightning-fast acceleration. The Renault 5 Turbo 3E accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds – performance normally reserved only for exclusive supercars.
