Renault 4 returns in 2025, Renault 4Ever Trophy gives preview
Future, with a touch of history
Renault is basing its future on the past, that much is clear by now. The brand is coming up with an electric successor to the Renault 5, and the Renault 4 is also getting a spiritual replacement. All these plans are brought together in the Renaulution strategic plan. The summary: Renault is using its famous past to better electrify the future.
That’s heartening, of course, because if Renault gets it right, new electric models will soon emerge that are developed with a nod to the past. With this, Renault is responding to the sympathy that still exists for the Renault 4 and Renault 5, for example.
Tough details
The Renault 4Ever Trophy is patently a nod to the Renault 4, which is evident from its naming. The main traits adopted from the original are the silhouette with the prominent hood, bumper and distinctive sloping rear end, the rear trapezoidal side windows with rounded corners, the front flanks, with no optical or stylistic attributes and the wheel arches that completely enclose the bumper.
So nice and retro, but also tough. The hood is equipped with a large air outlet that optimizes the operation of the radiator in the central part of the bumper. Also, the front overhang has been minimized to maximize off-road capabilities. With a spare tire on the roof and a shovel and traction mats at the top of the tailgate, the 4Ever Trophy stands its ground in the middle of nowhere.
“The market positioning of the future Renault 5 and Renault 4 is similar to that of the Renault Clio and Captur.”
Extremely wide
The huge protective parts around the body protrude more than 20 centimeters from the wheel arches, which is why this Renault is also 2.10 meters wide! The height of the car also makes the 753 mm wide 19-inch wheels stand out. The reinforced bottom provides good protection for the battery mounted in the bottom of the car.
Future electric Renault 4L
Furthermore, each wheel is equipped with a visible compressor that allows tire pressure control from the interior. Although the 4Ever Trophy is by nature a clear “offroader,” the model is also designed to have fun anywhere without pretensions. The future electric 4L aspires to the same versatility as its predecessor since 1962.
Electric motor of 136 hp
The Renault 4Ever Trophy is also state-of-the-art, as it has an electric powertrain. In fact, technical specifications are already known. You may take note of that one because, according to Renault, the electric motor refers to the future production model. Coming up: a system power of 100 kW (136 hp) and a 42 kWh lithium-ion battery.
Dimensions Renault 4Ever Trophy
The study model is 4,060 mm long, 2,100 mm wide and 1,900 mm high. The wheelbase comes out opt 2,570 mm. Rolls this Renault on tires in size 255/55 R19.
New Renault 4 coming in 2025
The Renault 4Ever Trophy looks ahead to a future 100% electric B-segment SUV from Renault to be launched in 2025. Like the Renault 5, the compact SUV will be built on the new CMF-BEV platform developed for B-segment electric vehicles.
Clio and Captur
The market positioning of the future Renault 5 and Renault 4 is similar to that of the Renault Clio and Captur. Like its predecessor, the final production version based on the 4Ever Trophy will be produced in France. Thanks to their shared characteristics, all models on the CMF-BEV platform are built at the ElectriCity hub in northern France.
