RDW fees to rise in 2026
Moderate rate policy
With the new rates, the RDW continues the moderate rate policy it has initiated. Although the average increase remains limited, several individual rates have been adjusted to better reflect actual costs. For example, the rates for RDW recognitions have been revised due to the new recognition system (MERK), which will take effect on January 1, 2026. Prices for economic activities have also been indexed in the context of market and government conditions.
Changes and activities in 2026
The RDW emphasizes that 2026 will be another year of much development and change. Innovations, new policies and amended (inter)national regulations will result in adjustments on multiple fronts. These include vehicle automation, electric mobility, environmental requirements, data processing, digitization and the recognition system.
In addition, the RDW is taking steps toward making the inspection locations more sustainable. Construction of the new test center in Marknesse will also start in 2026. Together with chain partners, the RDW is also working toward the implementation of the truck levy, the rollout of which is scheduled to begin in mid-2026.
Industry consultation
As every year, the RDW discussed the rate proposals in advance with industry representatives. During these discussions, future market developments and their impact on services and costs are also considered.

RDW hourly rates 2026
Should someone from the RDW need to visit, the RDW uses the following hourly rates:
- hourly rate technical employee: 145.00 euros;
- hourly rate ICT specialist: 154.00 euros;
- junior technical inspector: 151.00 euros;
- technical inspector: 179.00 euros;
- technical specialist: 199.00 euros;
- hourly rate of administrative staff: 121.00 euros;
- hourly rate consultancy/ project management: 172.00 euros.
