Known colors of Porsche Renndienst
Starting this month, the eight Dutch Porsche Centers and the importer are each putting out an electric Volkswagen ID. Buzz in which is in the familiar colors of Porsche Renndienst. The ID. Buzz links the rich track past to the present in a playful way, in the very year when Porsche celebrates its 75th anniversary.
Bulli
The Porsche 904, 908, 910 and 917 may be the great racing legends from Zuffenhausen, but another car also contributed to the success of the Porsche factory team in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s: Porsche Renndienst’s VW Transporter. The bus – affectionately called “Bulli” – is popular for its large cargo space, reliability and recognizability. It is a workhorse that you can rely on and thus an indispensable part of the team.
Volkswagen T1
If a gearbox or engine needs to be quickly replaced the night before the decisive race, technicians will find the necessary spare parts in the large cargo area. In addition, from time to time, the Bulli also serves as an improvised hotel for the members of the race team, the pickup version of the T1 is used as a car transporter, and Porsche also uses it as a cab to drive the drivers to and from the racetracks.
Stylish
The Porsche Renndienst Bulli is first used by the Porsche factory team during the 1954 Mille Miglia race. Porsche has no suitable transport car for its racers, so the idea is born to convert a T1 to transport the Porsches with it. The variants of the Renndienst bus are not only functional, but also look great with their dark red paint. The driving tool shed for racing teams has the characteristic Porsche styling of those years with a Porsche logo and white lettering on the flanks.
Mille Miglia and Targa Florio
Whether at the Mille Miglia, the Marathon de la Route, the legendary Targa Florio races in Sicily or the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Porsche’s service cars in Burgundy red indirectly contribute to the brand’s many victories in motorsport. Thanks to their proven, air-cooled, four-cylinder boxer engines, they are reliable and efficient, which is crucial in a sport where every second counts.
Porsche Renndienst bus is cult
Moreover, they are highly recognizable vehicles that appeal to Porsche fans and the public. Many original Porsche Renndienst buses have survived the hundreds of thousands of miles traveled from track to track and are now in the hands of museums and private collections in Europe and the United States. The Porsche Renndienst bus is cult; not for nothing are there many converted T1 and T2 Bullis driving around today that have been recreated in detail.
Porsche Renndienst 2.0
The cult status acquired is now underlined by the Dutch Porsche organization. The eight dealers and the importer each take ID. Buzz in use which, in terms of its color scheme and lettering, was inspired by the legendary Volkswagen T1 and T2 vans of Porsche Renndienst.
