Porsche 911 Spirit 70: what makes it special?

April 24, 2025

Porsche 911 Spirit 70 is Heritage Design model

“The Heritage Design models occupy a unique position within our product strategy,” said Michael Mauer, Vice President Style Porsche. “With the Spirit 70, we bring historic design elements to life on a state-of-the-art sports car and visualize what makes the Porsche brand so special.”

The technical basis for the Porsche 911 Spirit 70 is the current 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet with an optimized 3.6-liter boxer engine with electric exhaust gas turbo, electric motor and new PDK. This results in a system output of 398 kW (541 hp) and 610 Nm of torque.

Special color concept

The Porsche 911 Spirit 70 immediately stands out with its exclusive exterior color Olive Neo – a rich, deep green hue with modern undertones – combined with historically inspired decorative graphics. Bronzite also creates an exciting contrast: the lower rear section, the front section and the Sport Classic wheels in “Fuchs” design are painted in this gray-gold color. The soft top is black, as is the window frame, emphasizing the unique visual presence of the 911 Spirit 70.

Three decorative stripes

Striking details include the three decorative stripes in black silk gloss. This detail is a reference to safety decals from the 1970s: at that time, longitudinal stripes were applied to the bodywork so that sports cars could be more easily seen in the rearview mirror at high speeds on the highway or racetrack. The stripes continued ton-sur-ton on the soft top. Porsche lettering and the round starting number field (“Lollipop”) in black silk gloss with an individual starting number emphasize the brand’s sporting tradition.

Historical emblem

The 911 Spirit 70 carries a Porsche emblem almost identical to the historic 1963 emblem. On the side panels are gold-colored “Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur” badges. The Porsche Heritage emblem sits on the grille of the trunk lid. The design is reminiscent of the emblem on the Porsche 356, which was awarded in the 1950s upon reaching the 100,000-mile mark. Other striking details include the gold Porsche lettering and the model designation at the rear. The lettering gets its exceptional brilliance from the galvanized gold-plated surface.

And then the interior

Inside, the Porsche 911 Spirit 70 is distinguished by the iconic Pasha pattern in black and Olive Neo, which creates a dynamic movement in the upholstery. This pattern, applied to seats, dashboard and other accents such as the inside of the glove box, combines traditional textile techniques with modern flock yarns, for an even sportier and more comfortable feel. The decorative inlays on the rear of the seats and the trim on the dashboard are also optionally available in Pasha. Standard equipment also includes a reversible luggage mat in Pasha. The elegant upholstery in Club leather in basalt black with decorative stitching in Olive Neo and the basalt black interior package in Club leather are also standard on board.

The instrument panel, with a 12.65-inch display, combines historic design with ultra-modern technology: the white hands and scales are analog displays and the green numerals are reminiscent of the legendary Porsche 356, with model numbering elegantly integrated into the all-digital tachometer. White hands and green numerals also characterize the special version of the present Sport Chrono stopwatch.

Time travel to the 1970s

A customized chronograph by Porsche Design is available especially for buyers of the 911 Spirit 70, in which numerous details refer to the iconic model. In addition, the accompanying Porsche Lifestyle Collection includes an assortment of special collector’s items that rediscover the 1970s in style and authenticity. The range includes a collection of daywear and sportswear, lifestyle accessories and model vehicles.

As icing on the cake, Porsche is introducing a new app for the Apple Vision Pro. This application immerses users in the 1970s and allows them to configure their own 911 Spirit 70 step by step, understanding the iconic design elements of that decade. Introduction of the Porsche 911 Spirit 70 at the eight Dutch Porsche Centers is scheduled for spring 2025.
