Polestar 5: a four-door performance GT
The Polestar 5 is a four-door performance Grand Tourer based on the Precept concept car, which made its debut in 2020. At the time, this concept reflected the brand’s future vision of design, technology and sustainability. That vision is now becoming reality in the production version of the Polestar 5.
Two engine variants
There will be two versions. The 550 kW (748 hp) strong Polestar 5 Dual Motor sprints from 0 to 100 in 3.9 seconds, while the Polestar 5 Performance has 650 kW (885 hp) and 1,015 Nm and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds. Both versions are electronically limited to 250 km/h.

Six ‘colors’
The Polestar 5 is available in six colors, including two matte paint options: Storm, a powerful and purposeful dark gray, and Magnesium, a light, silvery hue. So there is no real question of real color. Blue, red or any other striking color shines from absence

The Polestar 5 can be configured online and ordered in 24 markets as of September 8, 2025. The Dual engine (550 kW (748 hp), 812 Nm) has an indicative introductory price of 121,900 euros and that of the Polestar 5 Performance (650 kW (885 hp), 1,015 Nm) is 145,300 euros.
Options Polestar 5
Speaking of prices. Choosing a different interior theme runs into quite a bit of money. Expect 5,900 to even 6,500 euros should you desire a different interior color. A semi-electric tow bar will cost you 1,600 euros. Polestar comes standard with 20-inch wheels. For 21-inch ones you pay 1,500 to even 2,500 euros. For 22-inch alloy wheels, you have to think about 3,500 euros. A matte paint will cost you 5,000 euros extra. For metallic paint you pay an additional 1,500 to 2,000 euros. So you can order just under 20,000 euros worth of options on the Polestar 5.
Ten quick facts of the Polestar 5!
- The front seats were developed in collaboration with Recaro!
- The Polestar 5 is designed primarily as a four-seater, but folding up the armrest creates a fifth seat
- The luggage compartment holds 365 liters, but you also get a 62-liter frunk to go with that.
- The 9-inch driver display is mounted directly on the electrically adjustable steering column and thus moves with the steering column
- The display runs on a Polestar-specific version of the Android Automotive operating system with integrated Google features. The four dynamic widgets below the Google Maps area can be customized by the user as desired
- The Polestar 5 is based on the Polestar Performance Architecture (PPA) with 800V board. This is a completely new, custom, heat-hardened and bonded aluminum platform
- The car has an adaptive BWI MagneRide system. The dampers scan the road up to 1,000 times per second and react within three milliseconds thanks to magnetorheological fluid.
- The Polestar 5 can charge at up to 350 kW via a suitable DC charger. Charging from 10% to 80% takes only 22 minutes
- The car has a total of 11 cameras, a driver’s monitor, a midrange radar and 12 ultrasonic sensors. It is also equipped with eight airbags
- Finally, all versions of the Polestar 5 have a 112 kWh NMC battery consisting of eight 192-cell modules. The base version can travel 670 kilometers on a full charge of power. The top model gets 565 kilometers according to the WLTP test standard
