Peugeot introduces all-electric e-408
Peugeot e-408
The e-408 probably looks familiar to you.
Indeed, it is the electric twin brother of the 408, just as the e-308 is for the 308.
Customers can thus choose how they want to drive the 408: on gasoline, electric, or a combination of both, as a plug-in hybrid 408 also exists.
The exterior of the e-408 is distinguished only by the type designation on the trunk lid, as otherwise there are no exterior changes to the model compared to the regular 408.
Larger battery
The e-408 is equipped with a 58.2 kWh battery.
The battery is manufactured in France and is designed for long life, according to Peugeot.
They underline that confidence with an 8-year or 160,000-kilometer warranty.
Charging can be done via the 11 kW on-board charger or with fast charging up to 120 kW.
In the latter case, you charge the battery from 20% to 80% in just over 30 minutes.
A quick stop of 10 minutes provides about 100 kilometers of additional driving range.
Driving performance and safety
The Peugeot e-408 is equipped with a synchronous electric motor delivering 157 kW (210 hp) and 345 Nm of torque.
The e-408 offers three driving modes: Normal, Sport and Eco.
These modes adjust the car’s performance depending on the driver’s preference.
In addition, the e-408 uses regenerative braking to recover energy during deceleration.
Interior and technology
Inside, the e-408 offers several technological gadgets, including Peugeot’s well-known i-Cockpit system.
This includes a 10-inch digital instrument panel and a touchscreen with integrated navigation and connectivity via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Of course, the car is also equipped with various driving assistance systems, such as adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist.
Preheating
An additional feature is the MyPeugeot app, which allows drivers to monitor the charging process and set the temperature in the car remotely.
This way you step into a warm car in winter and a pleasantly pre-cooled car in summer.
Exactly when the e-408 will hit the market and what the price will be is currently unknown.
