Peugeot e-5008 (2024): a 7-seat electric family SUV – WALKAROUND
Electric seven-seaters
Electric seven-seaters are not very common yet. You can think of the Mercedes-Benz EQB or the BYD Tang. Then there’s a Kia EV9. And so now there is also a Peugeot e-5008. Competitors of E-3008 – the little brother of the e-5008 – by the way, are the Hyundai IONIQ 5, Volkswagen ID5 and Tesla Model Y. For the e-5008, they are the Kia EV6, Skoda Enyaq iV and Mercedes-Benz EQB.
Different flavors for Peugeot 5008
The new Peugeot 5008 comes in several flavors. We briefly list the engine variants.
- Electric 210
- Electric 320 Dual Motor AWD
- Electric 230 Long Range
- Hybrid 136 e-DCS6
- The PHEV 195 e-DCS7
Of course, we go into more detail about all the engine variants. At least know that the BEV High Range and the Dual Motor will not be on the market until 2025. So in principle, you can only order the Electric 210 in the second half of 2024. Peugeot will also eventually come out with a mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid. That plug-in hybrid is coming in late 2024. This powertrain will also be available in the 3008.
Peugeot 5008 PHEV 195 e-DCS7
The plug-in hybrid version of the Peugeot 5008 gets a 21 kWh battery, of which 17.9 kWh is usable. The 5008 gets an electric driving range of 80 kilometers according to the WLTP test standard. For the 3008, it is 88 kilometers. Peugeot supplies a 3.7 kW charger as standard, but an optional 7.4 kW charger is available. The system power of the plug-in hybrid is 195 hp, of which 150 hp and 300 Nm is gasoline power and 125 hp and 115 Nm is electrical power.
Peugeot 5008 Hybrid 136 e-DCS6
The Hybrid 136 e-DCS6 will be the only “normal” version of the Peugeot 5008. This model has a 1.2-liter PureTech three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine with an output of 100 kW (136 hp) and 230 Nm of pulling power. Other components include a six-speed automatic transmission and a 0.4 kWh lithium-ion 48V battery. The car weighs 1,705 kilograms. This is a substantial difference from the battery versions, which we will discuss in more detail in a moment. An important difference from the electric motor versions is that the gasoline version does not have a multi-link rear suspension, but a rigid axle, a so-called twisted beam suspension in other words.

Electric versions Peugeot 5008 are called e-5008
Looking at the electric versions, the Electric 210 constitutes the basic version. That one has 157 kW (210 hp) with 345 Nm of torque. The battery pack has a capacity of 73 kWh, weighs 520 kilograms and offers a range of up to 502 kilometers according to the WLTP test standard. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h takes 9.7 seconds and the top speed is 170 km/h. Low weight is not something the car has, as even the base version already weighs 2,218 kilograms. For your information, a seven-seat EQB weighs the same. Other versions are heavier, with the exception of the gasoline version. That one is more than 500 kilograms lighter.
The largest radius of action
Want more range? Then you can go for the Electric 230 Long Range. That one has a 98 kWh lithium-ion battery pack weighing 574 kilograms. That car has 170 kW (230 hp) and 343 Nm of pulling power. The range of this version comes out to 660 kilometers according to the WLTP test standard. Want even more range? Then you should go for the Peugeot e-3008 Long Range. That one has 700 kilometers of driving range, on paper that is.
Peugeot e-5008 Electric 320 Dual Motor AWD
The most powerful engine variant of the e-5008 is the Electric 320 Dual Motor AWD. That has a 157 kW (210 hp) electric motor on the front axle and an 83 kW (110 hp) electric motor on the rear axle. Together good for 320 horsepower. This powertrain uses the 73 kWh battery. On paper, the Dual Motor has a WLTP driving range of 500 kilometers.
Peugeot e-5008 charging
All electric versions can AC charge with 11 kW. Fast charging is possible with a charging force of up to 160 kW. In the latter case, charging from 20 to 80 percent takes 30 minutes. With 11 kW, going from 20 to 80 percent takes about 4.5 hours. As with the e-3008, a heat pump should come off the option list for all versions. Peugeot deliberately made that feature optional, because you don’t really need a heat pump in the mild Dutch climate. In Scandinavian countries, however, the heat pump is standard. Understandable, because the winters there are harsh.
Dimensions Peugeot 5008
The Peugeot E-5008 has a length of 4.791 mm, where the e-3008 has a length of 4.54 meters. That’s a difference of as much as 25 centimeters. The wheelbase of the e-5008 comes out to 2,901 mm, while the e-3008 has a wheelbase of 2.73 meters. Thus, the wheelbase of the e-5008 is 16 centimeters longer. The boot of the e-5008 has a capacity of 748 liters when the third row of seats is not in use. If you do use that third row of seats, there are 259 liters available. With the second and third rows of seats folded down, you have access to 1,815 liters.
The third row of seats!
The rear seats of the Peugeot 5008 and e-5008 can be slid in a 60/40 ratio and the backrests fold down in a 40/20/40 ratio. Access to the third row of seats is quite great thanks to the Easy Access system. This allows the seats in row two to be fully tilted and moved forward at the same time. This new feature improves accessibility to the third row of seats. Moving things around is easy, with a control on the upper part of the backrest. Combined with the wide opening of the large rear doors, this system allows passengers of any size to easily sit in the seats in row three.
The third row of seats offers a true bench seat with two independent backrests equipped with adjustable headrests. These seats offer great comfort: thickness and softness of the cushions, higher backrests and optimized headroom, even for adults. Under the third row of seats is an additional storage space with a capacity of about 80 liters, ideal for storing various items not visible from the outside, such as favorite sports equipment. To make the most of this space, a special drawer is supplied as an accessory.
Differ
Through the control panel on the rear of the center console, second-row occupants can control the temperature and ventilation of the three-zone air conditioning system and adjust the optional seat heater. The center console also houses a 12V socket, complemented by two USB-C sockets, depending on versions. In GT versions, the center armrest has two cup holders and sunshades are installed in the rear doors to protect passengers from the sun’s rays.

Colors
You can order it in Obsession Blue, Ingaro Blue, Okenite White, Pearl Black, Artense Grey and Titanium Grey colors. Peugeot should do something about those colors, now many shades of gray. This car could use some color. Ingaro Blue, by the way, forms the base color.
Interior Peugeot e-5008
The interior should give a living room atmosphere, according to Peugeot. The Frenchmen use high-quality materials and a sculptural 21-inch panoramic display atop the dashboard. Of course, Peugeot again applies the i-Cockpit concept here, where you, the driver, have a compact steering wheel in your hands, with the digital instrument cluster above it.
Transmission switch
Note the position of the transmission switch. It has been moved from the center console to the right behind the steering wheel. The switch for the different driving modes does sit on the center console. All controls are otherwise in logical locations. The car also has i-Toggles, which are programmable switches so you can link different functions to them. The car also has Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and the “OK Peugeot” voice assistant. Artificial intelligence and ChatGPT is also available in the e-5008.
Driving assistance systems Peugeot e-5008
Driving assistance systems abound. A few examples: adaptive cruise control, a collision prevention system with recognition of cyclists and pedestrians, as well as cross traffic front and rear, as well as traffic sign recognition, blind spot monitoring, a lane assistant, speed warning, fatigue recognition and so on. Too many to mention.
Does this Peugeot also have an eco edge?
Peugeot uses over 500 kg of green materials (metals + polymers) in the new 5008. You can think of green steel and aluminum. Those two materials make up 60% of the total mass of green materials. Peugeot also uses more than 30 polymer parts produced with green materials. The French also use recycled plastic in bumpers, deflectors, storage bins and carpets. The e-5008 is 85% recyclable, as required by European legislation.
Conclusion Peugeot e-5008
Why should you buy this Peugeot e-5008? It is an electric family car with seating for seven. There aren’t many of those. Peugeot is also fully committed to design. But you can also fall for the warranty terms, as Peugeot provides an 8-year or up to 160,000 kilometers warranty, on the complete car. That’s pretty unique! The car must then be serviced by an authorized Peugeot dealer.
Prices? We don’t know those yet. An e-3008 starts at 48,000 euros. This e-5008 will be slightly more expensive.
