Peugeot 408 prices: this is what Peugeot’s new fastback costs
Starting price Peugeot 408
Prices for the Peugeot 408 start at 41,490 euros. Putting it next to its relatives, it turns out that the 408 is about 10 grand more expensive than the cheapest 308 and about the same price as the entry-level version of the 5008. In short, Peugeot really does seek the edge of the C-segment with the 408. For that 41,490 euros, Peugeot equips the 408 with the 1.2 PureTech 130 gasoline engine. That’s a 1.2 three-cylinder turbo with 130 hp, mated to an eight-speed automatic as standard. Peugeot no longer does manual transmissions on the 408.
The entry-level version of the 408 is called “Allure” and is already familiar from other models from Peugeot. For the starting price, the 408 is already quite richly equipped. Think things like 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, a digital instrument cluster and 10-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rear parking sensors with rearview camera and dual-zone climate control. Also included is the Pack Safety, which includes safety systems such as Video-Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Assist On Coming and Driver Attention Alert.
More equipment for plug-in hybrids
Plug-in hybrid versions of the Peugeot 408 carry a higher starting price. Prices for the “HYbrid” versions of the 408 start at €46,160 for the 180-hp HYbrid 180 e-EAT8 Allure. Not only do you then get all the benefits of the plug-in hybrid powertrain, but also the ability to preheat and cool your car and an expanded safety and assistance package that includes adaptive cruise control and radar for the autonomous emergency braking system.
Allure Pack and GT
In addition to the Allure, Peugeot has two more regular versions in store for the 408: the Allure Pack and GT. The Allure Pack’s extras include 19-inch alloy wheels, “Proximity Keyless Entry,” and the Pack Safety Plus and Pack Drive Assist 2. Those packages add Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Change Assist and adaptive cruise control to the standard arsenal of safety systems.
With the GT, Peugeot actually opts for a sporty slant. The grille is finished in the body color, the headlights have Matrix LED technology and the Peugeot emblem is also pasted on the front doors. Inside, a dark headliner, sport seats, aluminum trim, entry strips and pedals, and a 3D instrument panel with a special sporty layout provide the necessary distinction. Furthermore, the 408 has as GT “Lane Positioning Assist,” which allows the car to keep itself within its lane.

In addition to the two aforementioned engines, Peugeot also supplies the 408 as a 225-hp HYbrid 225 e-EAT8, but because the Allure trim level is not available in combination with the plug-in hybrid top version, its prices start at 49,660 euros. The First Edition is also still on the 408’s price list, but that version is only available temporarily.
