Pagani Utopia: magisterial hypercar from Italy
“More than four thousand stylistic drawings, ten scale models, one wind tunnel model, two 1:1 scale models and countless ideas, as well as research and experiments on eight complete prototypes. All in all, it was a team effort of more than six years,” says Horacia Pagani, founder of this prestigious supercar brand from Italy.
C8, C9 and C10
As mentioned in the intro to this article, the Utopia represents the third chapter in Pagani’s history. Everything started with project C8, the Zonda. The C9 followed, better known as the Huayra. The Utopia was developed under the code name C10. The goal: more power, improved performance, better structure and aerodynamics. More importantly, the driver must experience something analogous.
The utopia exists
Sounds like a utopia, like something that doesn’t exist. Horacia: “For the philosopher Thomas More, in 1516, Utopia was a place that did not exist, and since then this name has been given to the idealized places we dream of. But utopia exists; it is ‘only’ a matter of finding it!”
Limited edition
Pagani will initially produce 99 examples of the Utopia Coupe. Of course, those are all already forgiven. A Utopia Roadster will follow in the near future. Uniquely, Pagani pairs the 864-hp V12 engine with a seven-speed manual transmission or automated version of that manual transmission. So switching yourself, on demand.
