Opel’s mini monster truck: this is the Opel Rocks e-Xtreme – AutoRAI TV
‘You design it, we build it’
Under the motto “You design it, we build it,” Opel called on the public online in 2023 to design an awesome Opel Rocks Electric.
The winner would then actually build Opel.
And so it happened.
The design of the Opel Rocks e-Xtreme won and so the vehicle was actually built.
Rebecca Reinermann, Opel Vice President of Marketing: “The Rocks e-Xtreme is a unique and particularly cool version of our Rocks Electric that has its origins in a design competition.”

Design by Lukas Wenzhöfer
The Rocks e-Xtreme was designed by Lukas Wenzhöfer, an Industrial Design student.
His goal was to make the agile, all-electric four-wheeler an off-road vehicle with wow factor.
“The off-road capabilities represent the feeling of freedom to reach any destination, while the increased sportiness promises additional driving pleasure. Electric mobility is thus more than just a sensible solution,” explains Wenzhöfer.
With 3D printer
Opel engineers actually built the vehicle.
That took several months.
The design team wanted to stay as close as possible to the 3D model when building the unique specimen.
Characteristic elements include protruding wheels for a wide and safe appearance, dual front wheel wishbones and a bright yellow roll bar.
The Opel Vizor has also been reinterpreted with LED headlights and an Opel logo accented in turquoise.
To keep the weight down and support the performance of the electric motor, the Vizor and the fenders were produced with a 3D printer.

Another unmissable highlight is the prominent carbon fiber rear wing.
This is the original wing of the Vectra GTS V8, which now bears the emblem ‘e-XTREME’ and the serial number ‘001’.
