Opel unveils sporty GSe label
Grand Sport Electric
By 2028, Opel wants to be an all-electric brand. As early as 2024, there should be an electrified version in showrooms next to every model. Behind the wheel of future sustainable models, you probably won’t have to get bored. The brand now announces that additional nicely steering and richly equipped (partially) electric Opel models will be launched under the GSe label.
Sporty
The GSe models not only get sporty looks, but also matching handling characteristics. According to Opel, future GSe customers can look forward to a chassis that guarantees driving pleasure. Also, the GSe lineup will be “Autobahn-proof,” thanks to extensive testing on German highways. In addition, the GSe models will combine these features with the ability to drive emission-free locally. So expect a few more sporty plug-in hybrids from Opel in the near future, such as an extra peppery Astra Plug-in Hybrid, for example.
Opel Manta GSE
This is not the first time Opel has stuck these three letters on a car. In the past, the brand released an extra sporty Commodore GS/E and Monza GSE. The return of the GSe label was already hinted at in 2021 with the Manta GSe concept: an electric tribute to the iconic Opel Manta introduced 50 years ago with a four-cylinder gasoline engine. The Opel Manta GSe ElectroMOD is a so-called restomod. Under the skin lurks a classic Manta, but Opel has given it a different, more modern twist, replacing the gasoline engine with an electric version.
