Opel Corsa GSE is still coming this year!

February 24, 2026

Top version Corsa family

The Opel Corsa GSE will be the new top electric version within the Corsa range. According to Opel, GSE stands for battery-electric performance and dynamic tuning. The model should combine everyday practicality with extra power and more direct driving.

Same technology as the Peugeot e-208 GTI

Under the skin, the Opel Corsa GSE shares its powertrain with the new Peugeot e-208 GTI. That means the compact Opel features an electric motor with 206 kW (280 hp) of power and 345 Nm of torque. Drive is via the front wheels. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is expected to take about 5.7 seconds. This positions the Corsa GSE emphatically as a sporty variant within the B-segment. The top speed is around 180 km/h.

54 kWh battery

Energy is stored in a 54 kWh (gross) battery pack, of which approximately 51 kWh is available net. The battery pack operates with a 400V architecture. The expected WLTP driving range is around 350 kilometers, depending on version and usage. Fast charging is possible with up to 100 kW. Under ideal conditions, the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in less than 30 minutes. At home or at a public AC charging station, the car charges with up to 11 kW three-phase.

Sports alignment

Like the Peugeot e-208 GTI, the Opel Corsa GSE also gets a modified suspension tuning. Think a lowered chassis, stiffer springs and dampers and more direct steering. There is also a mechanical limited slip differential on the front axle, which should provide more grip when accelerating firmly out of corners. The brakes are also adapted to the higher level of performance. Larger front brake discs and a specific tuning of the braking system should contribute to a consistent pedal feel, even during sportier use.

Electric GSE offensive

With the arrival of the Opel Corsa GSE, Opel emphatically establishes the GSE label as an electric performance line. Earlier, the Opel Mokka GSE appeared, also 280 hp strong and equipped with a mechanical limited slip.

Florian Huettl, Chief Executive Officer of Opel, commented, “The Opel Corsa is an absolute bestseller. It is compact, agile and practical. The three letters GSE stand for battery-electric performance and dynamism. The new Corsa GSE combines both worlds. It is the all-electric top version of our compact car and offers local emission-free driving pleasure.”

Trusted base

The Opel Corsa GSE is based on the current generation Corsa, which has now been Germany’s most popular small car for five years in a row. In the Netherlands, too, the Corsa is structurally among the better-selling models in its class. Visually, the GSE version distinguishes itself with specific design elements. Think custom bumpers, larger alloy wheels, GSE badges and subtle aerodynamic accents. Inside, sport seats, contrasting stitching and specific upholstery are to be expected, in line with the GSE character.

Still to be ordered this year

Fans of compact, electric hatchbacks with extra power won’t have to wait long. Opel confirms that the new Opel Corsa GSE will be available to order in the course of this year. Prices and exact specifications for the Dutch market will follow at a later date.
