Now up to a 10-year warranty on a Kia

10-year warranty on a Kia

Toyota provides a 10-year warranty, Lexus ditto. With these two Japanese brands, that warranty lasts up to 200,000 kilometers. Mitsubishi Motors provides 8-year warranty up to 160,000 kilometers. Kia already offered a 7-year warranty up to 150,000 kilometers since 2010. That warranty is now being extended to 10 years, also with a maximum mileage of 150,000 kilometers.

Kia warranty terms and conditions

Of course, there are conditions. The Kia must have been serviced according to Kia regulations at an authorized Kia dealer/garage. Wear parts such as tires and brakes are excluded from the warranty. Incidentally, there is no mileage limitation for the first three years. A 10-year warranty on Kia models also applies to pre-existing models. So people with a 7-year-old Kia now get a one-time three-year warranty, provided the car meets the conditions.

Guarantee inspection

If a car’s maintenance history is not known, it is possible to still qualify for the 10-year warranty. The car must then pass a 99 euro warranty inspection at a Kia garage. After approval, you benefit from the additional warranty period.

Good for residual value

The higher warranty period on Kia models is good for the residual value of the models because the warranty is on the vehicle and thus transferable. In addition, dealers are again assured of servicing on older models of Kia.

Extend warranty period

Kia expects other brands to also tack on increasing the warranty period. After all, European brands in particular lag behind brands from Asia and China when it comes to warranty. As a consumer, surely five years of warranty is the minimum.

The fine print

The 10-year warranty applies to all cars purchased and registered with an authorized Kia dealer after January 1, 2010. No mileage limitation applies for the first 3 years. For all Kia models, the general warranty conditions as described in the “Warranty & Maintenance” booklet apply.
