New Volkswagen Tayron is ‘Tiguan Allspace’
Volkswagen Tayron
The Tayron is based on the modular MQB Evo platform, which is also the basis for models such as the Tiguan and Passat. It was fully developed in Wolfsburg, where it will also be built. The Volkswagen Tayron stands between the Tiguan and Touareg.
Volkswagen Tayron Life Edition
The Tayron is available in the Netherlands as Life Edition and R-Line Edition. The range begins with the Tayron Life Edition. That version’s standard features include three-zone automatic air conditioning, ambient lighting with ten colors, nine airbags, sun blinds in the rear doors, wireless App-Connect (for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), a digital instrument cluster, LED headlights including automatic high beam control (Light Assist) and an illuminated Volkswagen logo in the front and rear. Driving experience control (controls driving profiles, audio volume and activation of Atmospheres as a pre-programmed light and audio function) is also standard.
Volkswagen Tayron R-Line Edition
As extras, the R-Line Edition has sport seats in ArtVelours with integrated headrests, ArtVelours trim in the dashboard and doors, trim strips in aluminum look, bumpers in R-Line design and 20-inch alloy wheels. The R-Line Edition is also equipped with LED Plus headlights (including dynamic cornering light) and ambient lighting in 30 colors.
Options abound
Optionally, Volkswagen provides an adaptive suspension (Dynamic Chassis Control Pro) with adjustable dampers and Volkswagen’s advanced IQ.Light HD Led Matrix headlights with interactive lighting functions. Also available are: the new IDA voice assistant with ChatGPT integration (AI, artificial intelligence), a large tilting and sliding panoramic sunroof, a Harman Kardon sound system with 700 W of music power and a leather package with electrically adjustable ergoActive Plus seats including massage and ventilation functions.
Powertrains
Volkswagen is offering the Tayron in the Netherlands with two plug-in hybrid powertrains (eHybrid) and a mild-hybrid powertrain (eTSI). The power spectrum ranges from 110 kW (150 hp) for the eTSI to 150 kW (204 hp) or 200 kW (272 hp) for the eHybrid. A DSG transmission is standard, as is front-wheel drive.
Generous electric range
Both the Tayron Life Edition and the R-Line Edition are available as 110 kW (150 hp) mild hybrid eTSI, equipped with a 48V system and active cylinder deactivation (ACTplus). The two plug-in hybrid (eHybrid) powertrains both feature a 19.7 kWh (net) battery with an EV range of up to 125 km (WLTP) for the Tayron eHybrid models. The battery can be charged with up to 11 kW at an AC charger and up to 40 kW at DC fast charging stations. In the base version, the combination of four-cylinder turbo engine plus electric drive motor delivers a system output of 150 kW (204 hp); above that, a powerful 200 kW (272 hp) eHybrid is available.
