New trend in EVs: topology converter, what is it?

July 8, 2024

Inverter topology

An inverter topology refers to the arrangement and configuration of electronic components in an inverter circuit, which converts direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC). Different topologies, such as pulse width modulation (PWM), sine wave and multi-level inverters, determine the performance, efficiency and output waveform of the inverter, making it suitable for specific applications.

Key innovation

“NIO’s main innovation here is that it is a DUAL 3 inverter. Because most inverters are 3-phase (U/V/W),” said Mark Heiligers-Miguel, PR Manager NIO Netherlands, in conversation with AutoRAI.nl.
