New Mazda 6th for the first time in the Netherlands!
Electric successor to Mazda 6
In late summer 2025, the Mazda 6e will arrive in the Netherlands, an electric successor to the aging Mazda 6. Although unmistakably Mazda in appearance – with distinctive headlights, a stretched body of about 4.92 meters and subtle Mazda light signatures – the car is essentially the product of a close collaboration with Chinese automaker Changan.
Development and market introduction Mazda 6e
The Mazda 6e is based on the platform of the Mazda EZ-6 introduced in China, developed in collaboration with Changan. It has been available in China since 2024, but the European market will not get it until 2025, with only the battery-electric (BEV) version available.

Appearance and practicality
The body is a five-door liftback – not a traditional sedan, but with practical rear space including a 330-liter luggage compartment, and a frunk of 72 liters of additional volume. Despite relatively limited rear headroom due to the sloping roofline, the car does offer a towing capacity of up to 1,500 kg.
Interior & Operation
Inside, the Mazda 6th shows a mix of luxury finishes with Nappa leather and suede (in the Takumi Plus trim) and a striking amount of digital elements. Where Mazda previously traditionally used physical buttons, these have now been largely replaced by controls via a large central 14.6-inch touchscreen.

Technology and driving range Mazda 6e
The Mazda 6e is available with two battery options:
Standard (68.8 kWh LFP): rear-wheel drive, 190 kW (258 hp), 320 Nm, WLTP range approximately 479 km. Fast charging to 165 kW: from 10% to 80% in about 24 minutes
Long Range (80 kWh NMC): 180 kW (245 hp), same torque and drive, WLTP range about 552 km. Charging speed, however, limited to about 90 kW, so charging from 10% to 80% takes about 47 minutes
Driving experience
The Mazda 6th’s steering is light and friendly, thanks in part to rear-wheel drive and nearly 50/50 weight distribution. But the suspension feels stiff and feedback from the road is limited. Bumps are clearly transmitted, hindering comfort. Acceleration is smooth, especially in the base version, though steering flippers to adjust regeneration are lacking, reducing the driver-vehicle connection. Read more in our Mazda 6th review.

Mazda 6th prices
The base Takumi version with 68.8 kWh battery starts at about 44,990 euros, the Takumi Plus with more luxury at 46,940 euros. For the Long Range variant you pay about 1,600 euros extra, resulting in prices between about 46,590 euros and 48,540 euros, depending on version. The car comes richly equipped as standard, including seat heating, wireless CarPlay/Android Auto, head-up display and a Sony audio system with fourteen speakers.

Showing color
What color would you take it in? The typical Mazda red, or rather a more subdued color, such as dark gray, white or dark blue? We are quite a fan of the white exterior color. Oh yeah, there was also a prototype of the new Mazda 6th present, complete with zebra bumpers.
