Nearly 1 in 2 mopeds and scooters sold is electric
A fat plus of 44 percent
Compared to the first three quarters of 2021, sales of new mopeds (including speed pedelecs) increased 44 percent this year to 28,998 units. This is the highest number for this time of year since 2009. But what about electric moped and moped figures?

The share of electric in new sales of mopeds rose to 47% from 31% in the same period in 2021 (excluding speed pedelecs).

is possible. Whereas 42,965 mopeds were sold in the first 9 months of 2021, now there are only 25,834. Thus, mopeds are losing popularity significantly.
Electric moped and scooter lead the way
Almost 1 in 2 mopeds and scooters sold are electric, putting these modes of transportation at the forefront of sustainability. According to RAI Vereniging and BOVAG, manufacturers have invested heavily in recent years to expand the range of electric scooters, as well as fast bikes such as the speed-pedelec, which saw a 7% increase in sales from the first quarter of 2021. A positive development.
Popular brands
Piaggio (including Vespa) is the most popular brand in the first three quarters of 2022 with a 13.7% share of total moped and scooter sales. La Souris accounts for a 12.4% market share and SYM 9.5%.
