Most popular car in the Netherlands in July is a gasoline model
New figures July 2023
In July, 28,687 new passenger cars were registered in the Netherlands, up 30.7% from July 2022 (21,941 new passenger cars). This is according to figures from RAI Association, RCD and BOVAG. “We also see the increase in previous months, with the numbers being significantly higher than in FY2022,” a spokesman said.
Number of license plate registrations
A total of 229,342 passenger cars were registered this year, a 30.6% growth from the 175,638 car registrations through July 2022. The figures refer to the registration of new passenger cars delivered, not new sales orders. The sharp increase in registrations in recent months is due in part to the delivery of open sales orders from 2022. The biggest catch-up is now behind us.
Car market sales forecast 2023
Due in part to high inflation and low consumer confidence, the automotive industry saw a slight decline in new sales orders in recent months. Nevertheless, new sales are still expected to reach around 340,000 by the end of 2023. A 9% increase from 2022 when 312,074 new passenger cars were delivered.
