More than 9 things you want to know about the Hyundai Ioniq 9
0.26 – the Ioniq 9 is quite aerodynamic
With a cW value of 0.26, or rather 0.259, the Ioniq 9 is quite aerodynamic. Especially for an SUV of this size. After all, it is 5.06 meters long, 1.98 meters wide and 1.79 meters high. So seriously big, but no less streamlined. Hyundai has gone to great lengths to make an efficient electric SUV. Think flaps on the nose that can close, a flat base plate and a tapered shape at the rear of the car. By comparison, the Kia EV9 has a cW value of 0.28.
1 – Hyundai’s first large electric SUV
This is the first time Hyundai has launched a full-size electric SUV. This makes the Ioniq 9 the new flagship and targets the higher SUV segment. In the coming years, we can expect many more electric models from the Korean brand – by the time it reaches 2030, the brand will have introduced more than 20 new EVs. To be continued!

2 – Hyundai Ioniq 9 with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L)
The Hyundai Ioniq 9 can not only charge, but can also provide power to devices. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) is thus the order of the day. It can be done either inside the car itself with an outlet, or also on the outside via the charging port. So that’s perfect for camping, festivals or working on the road. The SUV is also prepared for V2G.
3 – Three powertrains and up to 429 horsepower
Hyundai offers three different powertrains for the Ioniq 9. First, there is the Long Range with 218 hp, 350 Nm of torque and rear-wheel drive. Second, there is also a Long Range with all-wheel drive. That one has just a bit more power due to the second electric motor, good for 308 hp and 605 Nm of torque in total. Last but not least, there is a Performance version. This shoots out the fastest with all-wheel drive, an output of 429 hp and 700 Nm of torque.

4 – Four versions: from Style to Launch
Hyundai delivers the Ioniq 9 in four variants: Style, Connect, Connect+ and Launch. As standard, the Style is already richly equipped with plenty of comfort and the necessary driving assistance systems. Think power adjustable and heated seats, privacy glass, automatic tailgate and a 12.3-inch infotainment system with plenty of connectivity. Lane assist, a ramp assistant and speed sign recognition are also included.
The higher trims include additional features such as larger alloy wheels, up to 21 inches, a panoramic roof (as of the Connect+) and Active Noise Cancelling. Yep, that makes it even quieter on board. At the same time, you can also choose to enjoy sound, because with 14 Bose speakers you are guaranteed to enjoy your favorite songs.

5 – Five doors and five-star comfort
It may be a clue, but this SUV is a five-door car. But even more interesting is the sense of comfort on board. We would rate this with five stars. Visibility and space on board the Ioniq 9 are impressive. So are the materials and workmanship. Hyundai got these things right, both in the front and rear of the car.
While driving, you especially notice how comfortably tuned the car is. Not only is noise from outside limited, helped by the noise cancellation, but the Ioniq 9 glides easily over bumps and other uneven surfaces. Moreover, it doesn’t feel like you’re driving a giant. Of course, you’re aware of its size, but the Ioniq 9 offers enough tech so that visibility around the car is visible from the driver’s seat. Think parking sensors, a rearview camera and even a 3D view of the car.

Six chairs…
The Ioniq 9 is available with both six and…
… or seven seats in the Hyundai Ioniq 9
Seven seats. So regardless of the number, you have two extra seats in the third row of seats. Which, by the way, you can electrically raise or lower. The six-seat configuration thus lacks a third seat in the second row, but the passengers each enjoy their own “captain’s chair. Additional functionality is that these seats can rotate on their own axis. This, in turn, is not possible in the seven-seater, which involves a rear seat.

88 liters of additional luggage space
In the back, you have plenty of room in the trunk, even with the third row of seats up. Then you have 338 liters of remaining space. This amounts to 908 liters with the third row of seats down, and with everything down it creates a sea of space of a whopping 2,494 liters. In addition to that space, the Hyundai Ioniq 9 has a frunk. The rear-wheel-drive version offers up to 88 liters of space up front, while the all-wheel-drive variant has 52 liters of additional storage space.

9 – New name in the Hyundai Ioniq range.
The Ioniq 9 completes the top segment of Hyundai electric SUVs. Following the popular Ioniq 5 and the sleek Ioniq 6, this is the latest addition to the electric bloodline.
(1)10. Large battery pack of 110 kWh
The 110 kWh battery pack provides a range of 600 km to 620 km (WLTP), depending on the version. Long journeys thus become a lot more relaxed, without having to constantly deal with charging stops. If you do need to charge briefly, you can do so with 11 kW with AC charging and up to 300 kW with DC charging. A flagship wouldn’t be a flagship without 800-volt technology, this too is standard.
And 10 x 10 = 100. The USB-C points in the Ioniq 9 boast 100W of power, so your smartphone or other device is charged quickly.
2,500 kilograms of braked towing weight as the maximum
In terms of options and features, the Kia EV9 and the Hyundai Ioniq 9 are quite similar inside and out. Yet there is one obvious difference. In the rear-wheel-drive variant, the Kia EV9 has a braked towing weight of 900 kg. The Ioniq 9, on the other hand, has the capacity to tow 1,600 kg. In the case of all-wheel drive, both SUVs can tow 2,500 kg.
67,995 is the starting price for the Ioniq 9
The Ioniq 9 is surprisingly competitively priced, considering the competition. Take, for example, the Kia EV9, as a direct alternative from Korea. It comes from 68,795 euros, assuming the Air version with the 99.8 kWh battery pack. Although there is also a First Edition for 59,995 euros, it has to make do with a 76.1 kWh battery pack – a slight concession, therefore, on the electric range.
Conclusion Ioniq 9
Can the Hyundai Ioniq 9 rightfully bear the designation “flagship”? We say a resounding yes – and that has to do not only with its dimensions. Driving experience also shows that the Ioniq 9 is an SUV that offers the best of the brand when you consider comfort, equipment, safety and an electric driving range of 600 km on paper. Oh, and don’t forget the word “space. The third row of seats is a godsend for those who want to transport large parties comfortably. Should that third row of seats not be needed, you get lots of luggage space in return. In short, the Ioniq 9 is a versatile flagship with the wind at its back.
