Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV comes immediately in five engine variants
EQE SUV is EQS SUV in miniature
Mercedes-Benz is betting on space with the new EQE SUV. The car is more compact than the EQE Limousine and, at 3,030 mm, has a 9-cm shorter wheelbase. The Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV is 4,863 mm long, 1,940 mm wide and 1,686 mm high. In terms of design, this SUV version of the EQE is no surprise. As mentioned, it is an EQS SUV in “miniature. Mercedes-Benz is doing the same trick with the EQS and EQE. These are also very similar.
Battery
Every Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV is equipped with a lithium-ion battery. How big the battery pack of the regular versions is, Mercedes-Benz is keeping to itself for now. The batteries of the AMG versions have a usable capacity of 90.6 kWh, divided into ten modules. The range depends on the chosen motorization and equipment. Larger wheels also affect range. Wheels in sizes from 19 to 22-inches are available to choose from. A total of five engine variants are on the menu for the market launch of the EQE SUV. We briefly highlight some figures for each implementation below.

16,300 words
By the way, did you know that Mercedes-Benz sent out a press kit of a whopping 16,300 words about the EQE SUV? The document is full of information about Mercedes-Benz’s latest electric SUV. Of course, we are not going to pass the 16,000-word mark in this article. We’ll stick to the main details for now.
Driver assistance systems
We start with the driver assistance systems. Standard equipment on the EQE SUV includes Attention Assist, active brake assist, active track assist, parking package with reversing camera and speed limit assistant.
Undercarriage EQE SUV
The chassis of the new EQE SUV includes a front axle with four wishbones and an independent multilink rear axle. Airmatic air suspension with infinitely adjustable damping ADS+ is available as an option. To increase ground clearance, the vehicle level can be raised by up to 30 mm. In addition to the Dynamic Select driving programs “ECO,” “Comfort,” “Sport” and “Individual,” the EQE SUV models with 4Matic also have the “Offroad” driving program for driving off the beaten track. Rear axle steering with a maximum steering angle of 10° is available as an option. This benefits the turning radius.
Also upgradable afterwards
The EQE SUV offers the ability to activate additional vehicle features via over-the-air technology (OTA) in a number of functional areas. This means that after purchase and after choosing the original configuration, many of the EQE SUV’s equipment can be individually customized. OTA features are available in the Mercedes me Store and the range will continue to expand.
MBUX Hyperscreen optionally available
Naturally, the new Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV is equipped with the MBUX infotainment system. The base version gets an already quite hefty display, but optionally the brand provides the well-known MBUX Hyperscreen. Thanks to the zero-layer design, the user does not have to scroll through submenus or issue voice commands. With the MBUX Hyperscreen (optional), three displays blend together almost seamlessly to form a widescreen over 141 cm wide. The front passenger has a 12.3-inch OLED screen with its own user interface at his or her disposal.
Route planning geared to electric driving
As for navigation with Electric Intelligence, the name says it all, because based on numerous factors, the system plans the fastest and most convenient route, including charging stops. The system also responds dynamically to traffic jams or a change in driving style, for example. Navigation with Electric Intelligence is smart; it calculates the estimated charge cost per charge stop. The driver can also individually edit planned routes. The driver can also edit planned routes by adding favorite charging stations along the route or excluding suggested charging stations.
Heat pump standard
The EQE SUV has a heat pump as standard. The residual heat from the electric powertrain (inverter and electric motor) and also from the high-voltage battery can be used to heat the interior. This greatly reduces the load on the battery for heating, increasing the range. Another pleasant and efficient feature is preconditioning. Two-zone Thermatic automatic air conditioning is standard, while four-zone Thermotronic is available as an option.
New sound experience
‘Serene Breeze’ is the name of the new, fourth soundscape making its debut in the EQE SUV. This provides a relaxing natural sound. A variety of soundscapes allows for individual acoustic arrangements. Interior sound is also available as an option. This adapts adaptively to the driving style.
Charging via three new charging rates
Since June 2022, Mercedes me Charge in Europe has offered three new charging rates tailored to individual driving behavior. Mercedes me Charge S is for people who charge occasionally, Mercedes me Charge M for customers who charge regularly and Mercedes me Charge L for frequent chargers. With the introduction of the new transparent tariff system, customers will have partial access to fixed prices that apply regardless of the operator.
Digital Light
The headlight technology Digital Light (option) enables innovative functions such as projecting auxiliary markings or warning symbols on the road.
Energizing Air Control Plus
Another interesting option is Energizing Air Control Plus. A High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter cleans the incoming outside air at a very high level of filtration. The Energizing comfort program connects different comfort equipment in the vehicle. Individual Energizing comfort programs allow for a special feel-good program depending on mood or needs. A leather-free trim on the EQE SUV will be available starting in early 2023.
Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV production
Production of the EQE SUV will begin in December 2022 at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, USA. The battery plant in nearby Bibb County supplies the batteries for this new model and the EQS SUV. Mercedes-Benz issues a battery certificate for its HV batteries and thus a performance guarantee to customers: 10 years or 250,000 km with a defined residual capacity.
AMG versions EQE SUV
As you have read in this article, there will also be two AMG variants of the EQE SUV. These are the EQE 43 4Matic SUV and the EQE 53 4Matic+ SUV. These versions come standard with fully variable all-wheel drive, AMG air suspension, a high-performance braking system, rear-axle steering, AMG-specific roll stabilization and an extra-thick AMG exterior. The AMG versions roll on Michelin Pilot Sport EV MO1 tires in size 275/40 R21.
