Mazda CX-5 will always be a hybrid from now on
Mazda CX-5 2023
Dutch people looking for a brand new Mazda CX-5 now have a choice of two gasoline engines: a 165-hp e-Skyactiv G 2.0 and a 194-hp e-Skyactiv G 2.5. Both engines get electric support, in the form of a mild hybrid system the Japanese call Mazda M Hybrid.
Mazda M Hybrid
The hybrid system consists of an integrated starter generator and a 24V lithium-ion battery. The system reduces fuel consumption, by using the starter generator to store energy released during braking in the compact 24V battery. The integrated starter generator can not only recover energy, but can also support the gasoline engine during acceleration. This also reduces consumption. In addition, all versions of the e-Skyactiv G 2.0 liter and e-Skyactiv G 2.5 liter are equipped with cylinder deactivation.
Caravanning
The extra fuel-efficient CX-5 is still an ideal caravan tractor, as you can hang up to 2,000 kg behind it. The e-Skyactiv G 2.0 liter is available with manual or automatic transmission and the Skyactiv-G 2.5 liter only with automatic. Versions with all-wheel drive are also still on the price list.
