Lexus LFA Concept

The Lexus LFA Concept was born out of the strong belief of Akio Toyoda, chairman of the board of Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) and also known as Master Driver Morizo, that certain car-building techniques and skills should be preserved and passed on to the next generation.

Developed jointly with GR GT and GR GT3 of Toyota Gazoo Racing

The Lexus LFA Concept is a concept model for a battery-electric sports car being developed in conjunction with Toyota Gazoo Racing’s GR GT and GR GT3. Following the example of the Toyota 2000GT and Lexus LFA, the Lexus LFA Concept embodies “Toyota’s Shikinen Sengu” for preserving and passing on techniques and skills of experienced automakers. Shikinen Sengu is a ritual in which a Shinto shrine is periodically rebuilt.

“The name ‘LFA’ no longer stands for internal combustion engines, but for passing on important technologies and craftsmanship to future generations.”

For the younger generation

Based on the ambitions of these experienced carmakers, these techniques and skills are not only passed on to the younger generation, but also developed further. Pursuing both outstanding driving performance and styling excellence, Lexus is working as one team to develop a BEV sports car that exceeds its customers’ expectations. Lexus plans to meet the challenges of the future of automobile production with increasingly sophisticated electrification technologies and overlaid techniques and skills.

A battery-electric sports car of the next generation

The Lexus LFA Concept is a next-generation sports car that, along with the GR GT and GR GT3, embodies Toyota’s vision of continuous innovation. The model revolves around three key points: a low center of gravity, a light but highly rigid design and optimal aerodynamics. Although the LFA Concept shares techniques with the GR racing models, it primarily explores the possibilities of all-electric propulsion.

Extremely rigid aluminum frame

With a light and extremely rigid aluminum frame and an ideal driving position, Lexus aims to create a sports car fit for the age of electrification without sacrificing driving pleasure. The electric architecture offers both high performance and timeless design.

The name “LFA” no longer stands for fuel engines, but for passing on important technologies and craftsmanship to future generations. The new LFA Concept demonstrates Lexus’ determination to preserve and further develop the essence and value of sports cars in an electric future.

Discover Immersion, Lexus has devised

The appeal of sports cars remains unchanged because they offer a unique driving experience. The Lexus LFA Concept is designed to make that experience even more intense and pure. The combination of aerodynamic performance and sculptural beauty allows the driver to feel completely immersed in driving. In the cockpit, everything has been refined down to the last detail, with the perfect seating position as the starting point. The design fuses functionality and beauty, making the car feel like a natural extension of the driver. This is the essence of Discover Immersion.

Isn’t it a beauty?

The Lexus LFA Concept builds on the sensual, sculptural beauty of the original LFA and combines it with timeless design. From the all-aluminum body frame of the GR GT emerged a design that maximizes sports car performance, while the low, flowing silhouette is reminiscent of a classic coupe. The result is a sports car with universal, cross-border appeal that continues to touch both now and into the future.

An interesting cockpit

Like the cockpit of the GR GT and GR GT3, the interior of the Lexus LFA Concept offers the same optimal driving position, unifying driver and car and maximizing driving pleasure. The interior has been deliberately kept simple, with all key functions placed around the driver. The steering wheel has been designed specifically for sporty use and the controls have been arranged so that everything can be operated intuitively and even by feel. This minimalist approach creates a pure, mechanical and fully immersive driving environment.
